Book on Talk Radio Hailed By Book Critics and Conservative Commentators
News Release ^ | 12/02/2012 | The Right Frequency

Posted on 01/03/2013 8:53:16 PM PST by TeaPartyJakes

Talk radio is again a focal point of debate in America in light of the recent election. Some argue that Republicans must discard the advice of Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck. Others contend the radio hosts are still the most formidable voice of conservative commentary in the face of four more years of a Democratic president.

The Right Frequency by Fred V. Lucas, a book that traces talk radio from its roots to becoming a dynamic force in conservative politics, has been well received by book critics and conservative commentators throughout the country.

Publishers Weekly says, “Lucas’s love and knowledge of talk radio is evident and will appeal to any fan of the medium.”

The American Spectator says, “So your burst of sanity from the media world comes from listening to Rush or Sean or Mark or Laura or Glenn or a whole host of others? This is the book that explains the history of talk radio and explains how it got to be the lifeline to so many millions of Americans. If you’re interested in the personalities, the history and the impact of talk radio, Fred Lucas has the story.”

Talkers, a magazine covering the talk radio industry wrote, “Lucas delves into the depth, reach and power of the talk radio giants in the American political landscape and provides some insight into the personalities of those larger than life figures.”

Mark Levin wrote, “Fred Lucas not only delineates the roots of talk radio as a venue for communicating conservative political thought in the 1930s and 40s, he explains how it has become, in the 21st century, the life force for the conservative movement and the voice for conservative ideals on the current political landscape. Anyone who loves talk radio will love this book.”

Republicans do not listen to Beck or Limbaugh.
Conservatives listen to Limbaugh.

TeaPartyJakes ~: (from the news release)..” the roots of talk radio as a venue for communicating conservative political thought in the 1930s and 40s, he explains how it has become, in the 21st century, the life force for the conservative movement and the voice for conservative ideals on the current political landscape.”

That’s true that talk radio has been the life force for the conservative movement and the voice of conservative ideals. However , in the last election the video propaganda machine of lamestream media (ABCBSMSNBC )was presenting liberal bias in 30 -45 - and 60 second sound bytes of entertainment and fear mongering to the under-informed. The under-informed ended up being the deciding factor of this last election.
Until the Conservative message can be simplified, and be presented in an audio-video format , the under-informed will continue to ignore the message.
Talk radio may be the Consevative voice ,.. but too often we are talking to oursleves and end up preaching to our own choir .

As Marshall Mc Kluen said back in the ‘60’s ,” The Media Is the Message “.

It is past the time that Rush or one of the biggies ditch the Repubs and advocate a Tea Party.

How do we get younger people listening to Rush, Sean, etc? I don’t know a single person under the age of 35 or so who’s interested in talk radio. And not many under the age of 40 or so. Rush’s common sense doesn’t do any good if the youth aren’t listening.

My son is 23. He’s a “Rush baby”. He doesn’t remember a time before Rush. All of his friends listen, at least from time to time.

Talk radio died 10 years ago. I don’t know what it was, but Rush became a GOP shill and the rest followed suit.

Falsely attributed to Churchill but still a good line:

"If you're not a liberal when you're 25, you have no heart. If you're not a conservative by the time you're 35, you have no brain."

The reason for saying this is a false attribution is that Churchill's own life of being a young Conservative and a middle-aged Liberal reverses the logic.

Speak/type for yourself. Dubya caused Rush to do that in order to save the republic from Algore and John F'n Kerry of Viet Nam infamy!!!

After Dubya got re-elected, Rush flatly stated on the air on his show that he was done and quite relieved with ceasing to "carry the water" for Republicans!!!

Like many of us in the former silent majority, he has tended to stick with what his parents saw value in like American exceptionalism, Republicanism and especially CONSERVATISM!!!

But even better, he's kept a healthy respect for skepticism and common sense... So please don't judge the world through your prospective alone if you don't mind. Thanks.
