On radio today, Glenn reacted to the shocking video of some Ohio teens who taped themselves joking about gang raping a young female classmate. It’s another sad illustration of how morally depraved society is truly becoming. Glenn talks about the problem and how to solve it on radio today.

Last month, the New York Times published a detailed report on an alleged gang rape in the small Ohio football town of Steubenville. Two Steubenville football players, Trent Mays and Ma’lik Richmond were arrested on Aug. 22 in connection with the alleged rape, Deadspin previously reported. Months later, exactly what happened that night is still unclear. Few witnesses have come forward to discuss what happened to the unknown girl, who alleges she was assaulted and photographed by athletes from Steubenville High.
In the newly released video, a male, identified by a number of media outlets as former Steubenville High School student and baseball player Michael Nodianos, seems to talk about an instance of rape and other disturbing events surrounding the incident.
“Now, there was a video, viral video and it’s really pretty awful. A viral video that was going around from Steubenville in Ohio. Now, Steubenville, their football team is a ‑‑ this is one of those towns that revolve, it’s like, you know, Friday night lights. It revolves around football. This is not a white issue; this is not a black issue. This is a white‑and‑black issue. This is the best possible story to point out our problems because it was blacks and whites that did it together. So it shows this is a human problem, not a race problem. This is a human problem..”

Rape, Lawsuits, Anonymous Leaks: What’s Going On in Steubenville, Ohio?
Just wait till the rest of this sordid tale is told...I guarantee it will get worse over time. If what Anonymous has found on the emails from the booster are true, this is going to get much worse for the football team. This cannot be covered up entirely, and there will be a point where people do not want to be dragged through the mud or go to jail for someone else’s crimes.
I think there will be a criminal ring that comes to light before this is said and done. Just a hunch for the moment. Because Nodianos couldn’t keep his mouth shut the night in question, and because the video was made and now aired for all to see, this will see the disinfectant that sunlight provides. If not, then the crime ring is more influential than I even thought. How Cody Saltsman’s charges were dropped is very interesting to me. I wonder if Sheriff Abdalla is in on this.

The perps and their collaborators and colluders certainly need prosecution to the fullest extent of the law. But let us not be distracted by irrelevant bullshit like football or race--those are liberal mind games we can best do without.
The simple fact is, under the right circumstances, alcohol being one of them, crowd behavior can surface. And all you saints out there, don't think you're necessarily immune. You are not.
I am mighty sick of the mantra, as regards the Sandusky crimes on the PSU campus, accusing Penn State students and alumni of ‘supporting the football program over the victims’. At the time Paterno was fired, the full extent of the coverup by PSU officials in power was not known. The Freeh report had not been released. Everyone was shocked at what was slowly being revealed in media reports. The students and many alumni revered Paterno and thought the administration was making him the fall guy, so the students rioted. This does not mean they support rape or sexual abuse or have no sympathy for the victims. This is a complicated issue here. A year has gone by and PSU families and alumni are still waiting for the full story to come out. They want justice to be done. The officials in the PSU power structure failed in their oversight responsibilities and I hope their punishment is severe.

The Freeh Report was hastily put together by partisans who pushed their own viewpoints about who they wanted to skewer. I’m waiting to see what comes out in the trials of the indicted PSU officials. One was set to start today Mon Jan 7th.
