Lawmakers across the state are taking on gun control issues in the aftermath of the school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown on Dec. 14.
State Rep. Stephen Dargen, a Democratic legislator from West Haven, wants the names and addresses of about 170,000 handgun permit holders in the state to be made public.
Names of gun owners are now confidential, but Dargen believes if people know how many guns are spread across communities, theyll be safer.
State Senator Martin Looney, of New Haven, is proposing ammunition control legislation, which would prohibit anyone barred from owning a gun from owning bullets or any other kind of ammunition.
A gun without ammunition is only a club. We really need to restrict access to ammunition, Looney said.
Some gun owners and advocates feel that the federal law that bans the sale of ammunition to felons is enough and enacting it on the state level wont be effective....

Clearly the intent of this bill is to demonize gun ownership / owners and to publish their personal information so that the anti-gun crowd can harass them. How this bill could be passed or even considered is completely insane but then again so are the majority of Obama supporters.
Most of the anti-gun people are also avid abortionists and strong supporters of Roe v Wade. Ironically, Roe v Wade was decided on elusive right to privacy on which the justices couldn’t agree where that right resided in the constitution. So the anti-gunners are willing to abort Roe v Wade to be able to grab all the guns they can.
Senario...........if a nieghbor of yours confronts you for owning a fire arm and an altercation arises where the nieghbor is shot dead are these cretans not liable for indirectly inciting this incident, Much like yelling fire in a crowded theater?
And their criminal records. And their abortion records. Lay it all out there.
Smear the crap out of them - they aren't above the law. If they want to violate a person's right to privacy, then they also have NO presumed right to privacy.
As they reap, so shall they sow.
Not if you have a bayonet.
is proposing ammunition control legislation...
I’ve been harping for many years on FR the fact that if they can’t get your guns they will get your ammunition.
The right to keep and bear arms (physical shooting objects and devices to protect yourself) mentions nothing about the right to keep ammunition.....if parsed by greasy, liberal, Marxist judges in the stacked Supreme Court.
Remember the phrase “what is the meaning of is” in the Clinton crime syndicate? Anything can be contorted into meaning something else by slick lawyers.
In this day and age with communism being home grown within Washington D.C. we are in very dangerous times.
I propose that all democrat politicians wear a sandwich board with their address and home phone number on both sides along with their childrens’ names and what schools they go to.

LEO and Corrections officers might not be too happy about that

Why don’t legal gun owners preempt this assault by placing big signs in their front yards which read, “There are legally obtained guns on these premises”.
Seriously, someone’s going to get hurt with this idiocy. Could be someone hiding from an abuser, or a current or retired cop who has enemies who are spoiling for payback.
ANY information in the hands of government is already compromised. If it suits the desires of governments or tyrants it WILL be utilized.
This will simply encourage non-registration and non-compliance with government edicts. Once you start getting people in the habit of not obeying government edicts and taxes, it’s hard to get them back.
I suppose that would depend on how it is done, for instance. All Property Records are Public Records and so are the names of Public Employees and Public Servants, you just need 2 lists(maps) and 1 application to tie them together. No Laws Broken.
Hey Looney, when you permanently give up your 1st amendment right to free speech, come talk to me about giving up my 2nd amendment right.
If the do, that information must be correct lest the state be liable for consequence of errors. Seems that list published by a newspaper has a 25% error rate.
I am a firm believer in ammunition control. The quality control system that I have works great. Nothing is more satisfying than knowing that you can make your own ammo that is more accurate than anything you can purchase. Invest in a Lee Precision or a Dillon press. Stop worrying if there’s anything on the Walmart shelves. My Lee Precision spits out 308’s and 223’s that are perfectly matched to my fathers and my rifles. I watched my father put a 3 round group of 52grain Seirra hpbt’s on a dime sized bullseye at 200yds. That’s what I call both gun control and ammo control

I'll take a wild stab at it and guess... 170,000?
Then, after they have them all registered, they change their minds.
He is, but if my name was on any such list, I would also feel terrorized.
This has got to stop, this country has gone utterly insane.
Unintended consequences:
Very likely that people who do not have guns will decide that the fact that they are NOT protected being publicized will remedy that, and this would result in increased gun sales and ownership.
This works for me!
Wait a second now. If the publicize gun whets names we’ll know who our friends are. Might even be used as a recruiting tool for the new citizen anti anti-gun lobby militia...; )
