Both sides to play chicken with debt limit
American Thinker ^ | 01/05/2013 | Rick Moran

Speaker Boehner has announced he won't negotiate one on one with the president anymore. Obama has said repeatedly that he won't negotiate on raising the debt limit. The two sides are speeding toward each other waiting for the other guy to blink.

ABC News:

President Obama was pretty clear late on New Year's night as he reacted to Congress's passage of a bill to take a turn away from the fiscal cliff. He won't negotiate with Republicans about the debt ceiling.

"Now, one last point I want to make," said the president, before wrapping up and hopping on Air Force One for a redeye to Hawaii. "While I will negotiate over many things, I will not have another debate with this Congress over whether or not they should pay the bills that they've already racked up through the laws that they passed."

That's pretty clear. No debt ceiling negotiation. Then he added for emphasis: "Let me repeat: We can't not pay bills that we've already incurred. If Congress refuses to give the United States government the ability to pay these bills on time, the consequences for the entire global economy would be catastrophic - far worse than the impact of a fiscal cliff."

But in Washington, saying you won't do something these days has almost become like an opening bid. At least, that's how Republicans are treating the president's line in the sand.

"The president may not want to have a fight about government spending over the next few months, but it's the fight he is going to have because it's a debate the country needs," wrote Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, the Kentucky Republican, in an op-Ed on Yahoo! News about 36 hours later.

Scrooge it. Do not raise the debt ceiling and close down ALL nonessential government.

Let's see what they do then.

SuperBadBlingMacDaddy Obama doesn’t dare mention that these lawmakers he’s gonna “refuse to discuss bills those lawmakers have already racked” with haven’t had a frigging budget from him that even came close to passing his entire Presidency. They are illegal bills, MacDaddy. The check comes to you sucker. Further, dimwit, you don’t have to discuss about paying what’s already owed; a Republican Congress with a pair of balls just wouldn’t give your worthless ass any more credit.

Do not raise the debt ceiling and close down ALL nonessential government.

That's been my argument since 1994.
The only people who would notice are the Democrat party's base of moochers, bums, deadbeats, and parasites. Everybody else would shrug and realize that very little government is "essential".

I want to see this skit on SNL:

opening scene:

Obama meeting with his top advisers in the White House.

advisers saying to Obama “We have a serious problem with our debt and budget” They continue to explain to Obama as if he were a child; “We have X trillion dollars of expenses and only y dollars of income”

Obama “can’t we borrow some money to pay the difference? “

Advisers “We have and, we are doing that” “Not working”

Obama “Well can’t we just make more money”

Advisers “We are” “it’s not really working”

Obama “I’ll take this under advisement, now leave me so I can solve this problem”

Advisers leave.

Obama turns on TV.

An ad comes on for a “DEBT Consolidation” company.

Obama picks up the phone and calls.

And from here I think you can imagine the conversation.

......”did you say million? with an M”

........”no Miss, Trillion, with a T like..like...Taters”

Obama ran up the bills now he wants the Congress to pay them.

And of course Boehner will cry a bit, whine a bit, threaten a bit, and then fold up like a cheap suit.

The problem is Entitlements. They are 68% of ALL Federal Spending. Our Federal Government is nothing more than an ATM machine.

The entire reason they passed the "Sequestration" garbage and the great hope in a "Super Committee" was the hope the Entitlements would be reigned in, even just a bit.

NO ONE will do this. Entitlements are breaking the back of this nation, and these include the Medicare, Social Security, Medicaid, unemployment, Disability, as well as the 80 welfare programs we now have.

I guarantee you that this is how it will pan out......

________________________________________________________

"We will not raise the debt limit again! We will let the military linger, every Federal employee be laid off, and every national park shut down! We are immovable!!!"

"No matter what stop gap measure you pass during a shutdown, I will tell Treasury to withhold everyone's Social Security direct deposit."

"Oh....well....hurrumph......ahhhh......errrrr...well........all righty then, we cave."

Something that I find ridiculous is the way they always threaten to close the national parks and let the military get screwed -- the NPS is about 1/15 of 1% of the total federal budget, and the defense budget is somewhat around 16%.

And yet at the same time entitlements, not part of the problem but the ENTIRE problem, are untouchable.

Amen.

When Newt Gingrich stood up to Clinton, the Democrats, and the media (gee, wish we had that today), the media went nuts showing school buses full of little minority children that could not get into a Federal park during their field trip.

They ran these stories 24/7 on the cable news networks.

If Gingrich's original proposals were adopted in the 1990's, Medicare and Social Security would have been solvent for the next 40 years.

But American greed, deception, corruption took over.

When Republicans allowed Entitlements to be "exempt" from the 2011 "deal", they doomed America. I believe our doom is now Biblical; it is God's judgment.

Americans just armed themselves in record numbers, and not so they can turn them in to Junior Cuomo... I have NO problem seeing the standing army reduced by 20%. The militia will protect our shores.

Let the Kenyan-in-chief define “bills already incurred.”
In the absence of an actual biennial budget, seems to me the extent of ‘incurred’ is the duration of the current continuing resolutions. BTW, ‘entitlements’ (Welfare by any other name) are not debts incurred.

SO...it’s time for the House to snap shut the nation’s coin purse. Let the sequester hit. And, double down on it by passing a BALANCED budget, one balanced to actual anticipated revenues...no deficit. Hand it over to the Senate for their action, and keep the heat on them.

I’m so sick of the arrogance of this narcissistic psycho that I could spit. It’s time for the pubbies to find their backbone and get in the fight.
