The U.S. has been hit with a particularly aggressive early flu season this year with widespread reports of the illness across the country, hospitalizing 2,257 people and leaving 18 children dead before the end of 2012.

And health officials say the numbers haven't even peaked yet.

'I think we're still accelerating,' Tom Skinner, a Center for Disease Control and Prevention spokesman, told reporters.

Did your 'flu' present symptons of fever over 101?....shivering chills?....aches?.....coughing?...tiredness.....for about 3 days?.....

That's exactly what my symptoms were.....and when I went to the doctor this past Thursday he said it was not the flu!

It felt like the flu.....The last time I had the flu was in 1978.

My daughter & her husband both took the flu shot.....and had this same virus...

..I didn't take the flu shot.....and had this flu like virus.

My doctor says our county has had few cases of the flu..........

..but this non flu virus has been around for 5 months!

Not sure what my fever was at the highest, but it was almost 101 at the clinic. I had chills and sweating, body aches, coughing (coughing was the first symptom), didn’t want to eat, and just had to stay in bed for 3 days. The doctor said flu but who knows? Just went by the symptoms. Feeling much better now but still have a little cough.

No, it is considered a good match this year for both extant A and B strains. The interim vaccine effectiveness (VE) estimates are good. C strain generally gives only a very mild episode. Glad you’re feeling better anyhow.

Me, too. Could have been much worse. I’m 60 now and I know it can be very serious, the older you are.

H3N2 (an “A” flu) are by far the greatest number of cases this year.

My mother and I still have Tamiflu stored from the swine flu scare (she’s 95), although I could sure use the money back in my pocket but maybe it will still be useful (has been stored properly).

Based on the map, there’s a heck of a lot more gun owners in a couple of counties in New York State than there flu victims in the entire US!

Your symptoms sound exactly like mine!...started with a cough....next day, extreme chills, fever over 101...(3 days later it was still 101).....no appetite (lost 4 pounds in 3 days).....My long time doctor (over 20 years) said it was not the flu!.....

I feel better....still have a cough.

I got a bug last week and the body aches were brutal. After two days the aches and fever left and I was able to return to the job site. It was another three days before my heart rate returned to normal. I have not been sick in years and hate being so helpless even for just a couple of days.

IIRC This administration has prevented the CDC from giving accurate locations and numbers on Flu since at least 1009

Wouldn't want to spark a panic. Wouldn't want to waste a crisis.

I think that is what I had. Started with cough, 102 fever, chills, extreme body aches, and no appetite.

I’ve seen many reports of people getting the flu after taking the shot.

One went for years, no flu.

Got the shot, got the flu.

In his mid thirties.

I saw a doctor on FOX news yesterday that said the vaccines they have are just guesses, that they really don’t know what they are doing.

I think the government does.

OMG nice chart there from the Daily Mail, green data points = no symptoms reported - say what?!

Red data points posted on a red background = hmmm OH NO it’s an epidemic. So should we start an over/under from when the Obambi admin takes another advantage over a supposed emergency?

"It’s getting bad here in Texas. Our local small-town hospital is full and are sending new patients to the next town."

Oh, great...I still have acute bronchitis - since week before Thanksgiving. Can't take flu vaccination yet, I don't think, until the bronchitis clears.

Calling doctor on Monday to see if I have any options beyond isolation.

Arghhhh..........

An Israeli Virologist developed an elderberry syrup that helps shorten the duration of Flu. I think its called Sambucol. It inhibits the ability of the virus to reproduce. Load up on Vitamin D (4000 or 5000 IU.) It apparently increases your immune response.

The syrup runs about $13 a bottle. a bottle of 120 capsules of vitamin D runs about $12. Do your own research about these on the internet and make up your own mind. You should still see a Dr. if you can.

I hope you feel better!
