And the Republican establishment spiked a true conservative candidate so Ahhhnold of the kennedys could be Governor of California.

Great success.

He is a mediocre actor as well. Those shoot ‘em up movies require little real acting talent.Nor are the movies believable. The movie where he played a Russian cop was his best.

"Oh I don't know, I've seen a few movies that made me want to hit something after watching them, for wasting two hours of my life, mostly."

And, that's two or so hours we can't get back. I didn't see SEX AND THE CITY but if I HAD to go (to be social), I'd excuse myself to go to bathroom and read a good book instead.

I always have a good book available just in case something like this comes along.

Wish I has thought of this in my younger years... Later, I could say 'you wouldn't believe the lines in bathroom'. And, that would be true whether bathroom is empty or crowded. She how I did this! I made this, no body made this for me. Obama = 0.

Is it punishing all of society by requiring grocery stores and restaraunts to be clean and not sell rotten food for the body?

"He omits that 'we need to deal with gun free zones which become rich target locations for those bent on doing mass shootings.'"

Gun Free Zone signs need to be all taken down and recycled.

The Romans were watching ‘actual’ violence not pretend violence. And that’s what parents are for...to teach kids right and wrong. Victorians read gruesome penny dreadful about Jack the Ripper types and were none the worse for it. Some people think that sort of thing actually purges actual violent thoughts by acting them out in fantasy land. Otherwise they fester. The inability to tell reality from fantasy is one of the primary marks of psychosis.

The idea that Art causes violence is absurd on its face. There’s been violent entertainment since the beginning of time.

Agree and disagree. There is art that glorifies the hero who must employ violence in order to end evil violence and defend home/country/faith. This is virtuous art.

And then there is "art" that simply glorifies violence for the sake of violence. Think Quentin Tarantino. Or for shock value: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VK54bw95pY

No virtue. It's the pornography of violence.

I don’t have a suggestion..and I agree with you..parents shouldn’t let their kids consume that stuff..

all voluntary measures are what is needed.. no legislation is needed and would pass muster anyway with the 1st amendment.

I think that stuff is garbage... if people want to consume garbage then they have every right to consume it.

There is good art and bad art. Always has been. QT’s best films are about more than violence and most of them aren’t nearly as violent as they are made out to be.

" Movies and video games do NOT cause violence. "

Maybe the movies/violent video games viewed by people with mental illness just provokes them over the edge.

Just wonderin'................

Nope. If one is true, the other following the same methodology logically follows.

There is no switch in the brain that says one is OK and the other not. One can work and the other doing the same thing wont.

Both are learning through visual stimulus. That is not arguable.

Both ‘teach’ us to perform a certain action or actions.

So if movies and video games cause violence, as stated above, show the millions of bodies that resulted from all the crazes psychos.

Show me the millions of musicians with Grammys and Billboard multi platinum albums.

Show me the millions of Superbowl winning quarterbacks.

Show me the millions of Iron Chefs.

Show me the millions of whatever that movies cause.

You can’t. Because Movies or Video games do not ‘cause’ anything. Lack of morality combined with action sans consequence is the answer you are looking for.

Because while you can point to people everywhere who claim whatever devil made’em do it, it comes back to one thing. They damn well wanted to.

And if you don’t believe that to be true and think every bit of my posts are wrong, here’s an easy test.

Go buy a Koran. Go to your nearest Mosque and pray. Then come back here and tell me you are ready to convert to Islam and fly planes into buildings.

Then I’ll believe movies and Video games ‘cause’ something.

“Is it punishing all of society by requiring grocery stores and restaraunts to be clean and not sell rotten food for the body?”

That’s a false analogy. I’m not going to contract an illness from a video game.

That’s a bad analogy. Nobody has ever watched a movie or played a video game and died because they contracted an illness from it. They are not inherently hazardous to your health.

if especially impressionable children (and adults) see images of violence/sex in the media and games all the freaking time they will come to believe that it is normal

"ALL of the kid killers were on psychoactive drugs... with the blessing of idiot liberals who see mind mucking drugs as ‘the answer’..."

For the kid killers, I also wonder how many had been on medication and just stopped taking them on their own.

I have seen up close and personal what occurs when a person just stops taking psychoactive drugs with no medical assistance.

The blowback in horrifying - the person was not the person we knew. He became violent in words, in actions (punching wholes in sheetrock, etc), scaring his wife and children.

All because he thought he knew better than his doctors. Once they got him back on his medications and they hospitalized him in a regular hospital, he became the fella' we knew and had been missing.

It's tough. Every situation is different. No question that people on these medications need to frequently check with their doctors. Frequently.

“Maybe the movies/violent video games viewed by people with mental illness just provokes them over the edge.”

Maybe they got provoked by someone looking at them funny, or because the restaurant ran out of decaf, or because their favorite American Idol contestant got voted off. Psychotics aren’t rational, anything can provoke them.
