I’m sure it has nothing to do with the people fleeing the state for economic and political reasons.

"Unless the birthrate picks up, we are going to need more immigrants."

Wasn't hard to guess where the WSJ would go with this story.

Of course they would further recommend more of the low skill immigrant, the kind you don't have to pay much.

The kind currently bleeding the state white, by the way.

Which, incidentally, is why most productive CA couples (the kind not receiving public assistance) can only afford to have two or fewer kids.

Declining migration and falling birthrates have led to a drop in the number of children in California...After decades of burgeoning population and economic growth…the state now faces a very different prospect...

Falling birth rates are a drop in the bucket compared to the IDIOTIC laws and massive tax increases the State have put in place. They destroyed all industry, farming, mining and logging so worker and business flight have STRIPPED the tax base. But since California is one of the top welfare payment states, the Non-working class have stayed allong with the illegal immigrants.

Classic Liberal findings, blind to their foolishness, they point fingers everywhere but themselves.

It is not declining migration, it is increasing Business, worker and wealthy retirees migrating out of the state that is gutting it.

And what share of that decline is from the 1.5 million abortions nationwide? Isn't that factored into it? If not, why not?

How can we dismiss the incredible amount of national slaughtered unborn and newly born babies that easily? Disgusting!

California has not complied with CDC requests for abortion data in many years, and since California accounts for more abortions than any other state in the U.S, the figure is unknown.

"Unless the birthrate picks up, we are going to need more immigrants."

Places like CA, NY, and IL have a lot of illegal aliens. They don't seem to help.

then the kids are exposed to the radical anal feces sex freaks and then taught how to do it and then they wonder why more and more have had enough.

All conservatives get out of your socialist dumps and move to a republican or swing state amnd help to make those states solid republican and stop giving money to the socialist agenda or having kids expsed to perverts

Lack of a birth rate among the Hollyweirdos is a good thing.

Does the figure include anchor babies?

Thanks MinorityRepublican.

“Declining migration and falling birthrates have led to a drop in the number of children in California just as baby boomers reach retirement, creating an economic and demographic challenge for the nation’s most populous state.”

There economic and demographic challenge is that there running out of TAX PAYERS, not TAX CONSUMERS...

Hint: Bringing in more TAX CONSUMERS is not going to solve the problem...

Hmmm.

They figured it out. Feminists, Gays and transsexuals do not procreate. hee hee hee

Ad huge numbers of abortions and you have the exact prescription for extinction. And collapse.

Perfect timing...Just read an intro to a college sociology research design text that went on about overpopulation and will use this info to write to the author and editor. Of course there are lots of other things in the book that tick me off, too.

"Unless the birthrate picks up, we are going to need more immigrants."

Immigrants of the 'illegal' persuasion are a present drain on the system. Are they really wanting more?

I was in Orange County recently and it was FULL of children!

Some of them were even learning English!

Or gays getting married to procreate...oh wait, that’s not biologically possible without a surrogate.

Kalifornia does not expect young people to have children, unless they are “anchor babies”.

Why should they expect people to try and have families when it takes 2 just to try and pay the rent, food and other expenses.
