Last month, the U.S. Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals declared Illinois’s ban on carrying a weapon in public unconstitutional, leaving the District of Columbia as the only place in the country that does not allow the concealed carry of firearms by civilians (and D.C. is being sued to allow this).
The morally purblind pro-gun lobbyists have been so successful in saturating our society with firearms—from national parks to Amtrak trains—that public libraries across the country are also finding themselves having to grapple with Second Amendment radicals.
For example, the Boulder Public Library, until November, had a policy that read: “No person may bring a weapon into or possess a weapon in any library facility except this rule shall not apply to library security personnel or police officers carrying service weapons.”
In light of Colorado’s concealed weapons statute and a Colorado Supreme Court ruling earlier this year that said the University of Colorado could not ban concealed-weapon permit holders from bringing guns on campus, the library, as the Denver Post reported, had to change the rule to read: “No person may bring or possess a weapon, except as expressly permitted by state law.”
Clearly, the library prefers to limit the presence of guns, but the library also wants to respect the law. Unfortunately, our gun laws (and their interpretation) are increasingly misbegotten and take insufficient heed of the need for reasonable restraint in certain places. But even mild attempts at regulation raise the ire of the pro-gun crowd.
Virginia’s Richmond Public Library posted a rule this summer saying “carrying concealed weapons of any type is prohibited by State Law,” according to the Richmond Times Dispatch. The Virginia Citizens Defense League Inc., a pro-gun group, correctly told the library that this information was not accurate,

While it may appear the proponents are such, it will not remain so for long, especially if it seems they are losing the arument that same way any heart-tugging liberal loses a reasoned logical argument.
Since I'm tired of arguing with freedom takers, I'll just bide my time and respond accordingly [in a non-violent manner]. Therefore, I'll eschew interaction with a group of people so logically disinclined reason or sense.
While the article makes spurious comments about the pro gun group forcing their views (guns) on the country which I find rather ironic and extremely hypocritical. The left has been using this exact same tactic on the rest of the country for the past 50 years. Forcing legal challenges through sympathic courts and impinging on my rights (reducing) have been symptomic of our sinking in everything in this country. All the aim of the communist that are now fully in control. God help us, please.

Very well said and I agree completely. I'll also add that public libraries are yet another manifestation of socialism. When Benjamin Franklin formed a lending library, it was a voluntary organization, funded privately without taxpayer support. The government-run public libraries have become a haven for the stinking homeless and creepy third-world types. Honest, hard-working Americans get their reading material from sources other than these government-run places.
Beware of anything with "public" in the name: public television, public transportation, public utility. public education and so on. They are, in fact, the public enemy.
From what I am told, getting a CCW in New Jersey is all but impossible. I wouldn’t say that DC is the only place that doesn’t allow it...

Nay, liberal (er, now “progressives”) are happy to violate any law they object to. Obeying this law is an unnatural act and they would even proudly disobey it (ala David Gregory) if they knew they could get a pass. But in this case, they calculate that that getting a pass might cost too much, so they will just put the issue aside, for the time being.
Is it just me or is it a requirement that to work at a library you must be a Marxist, socialist or communist?
I went to Springfield Technical Community College in Springfield, MA. It is on the grounds of the former Springfield Armory using almost all of the former buildings with the exception of three they built. The library is on one former former Amory buildings. One day, I was doing some research for a history class and had printed something about the M1 Garand. A librarian was at the printer and when I picked it up made some snaky comment about how this better be for some school project. I replied that it was adn that it was very fitting that it was developed and made where were are now. The look on her face was priceless.
