Tough Path Seen by Obama on Ban of Assault Arms
New York Times ^ | January 10, 2013 | MICHAEL D. SHEAR and PETER BAKER

Posted on 01/10/2013 11:10:34 PM PST by Seizethecarp

While President Obama pledged to crack down on access to what he called “weapons of war” in the aftermath of last month’s schoolhouse massacre, the White House has calculated that a ban on military-style assault weapons will be exceedingly difficult to pass through Congress and is focusing on other measures it deems more politically achievable.

As a task force led by Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. readies recommendations on reducing gun violence for delivery to the president next week, White House officials say a new ban will be an element of whatever final package is proposed. But given the entrenched opposition from gun rights groups and their advocates on Capitol Hill, the White House is trying to avoid making its passage the sole definition of success and is emphasizing other new gun rules that could conceivably win bipartisan support and reduce gun deaths.

Mr. Biden’s comment this week about taking executive action was seized on by some opponents as evidence that the president wanted to unilaterally restrict gun sales to legal buyers. But officials said executive action refers to limited measures like directing more attention and resources to pursuing violations of existing gun laws and studying gun violence.

“It was the work of bad men in power who orchestrated it; OR it was the direct hand of Satan.”

I agree...I believe it was all brought about by the governments social engineering...the culture we have is the result of years of assault on the church and anything that resembles moral standerds that our children need to keep them from eating each other...I say, if the government is going to decide what the rules of life are going to be then they MUST acept the responsibility when the chickens come home to roost...

A Task Force led by Joe Biden.

Anything led by Joe Biden is led by Jod Biden is pretty much a waste of time.

Obama has already decided what he will do and Joe is just a cover for him. Somene to blame it on.

Poor Joe hasn’t figured that out yet, He still thinks he is impotent. LMAO Spelling done on purpose.

We are in a period of time in which the “spiritual warfare” between Heaven vs. Hell, which has been ongoing will get worse over the course of time until the “end of the age.”

Obama, worst emperor ever. Any emperor worthy of ruling would have already written the decree to confiscate guns. But Obama is timid so he has Biden out there wasting his valuable time and talent on meetings with NRA, Walmart, etc to make it look like he is seriously considering his course of action.

“I sort of like the idea of publishing all the names addresses phone numbers as well as tweet e-mail accounts etc of all the gun grabbers out there and maybe their wives and kids too.
Sort of put some back pressure on them.”

It’s called ostracism. Businesses refuse to sell them food, clothing and shelter. But you need an organized community to pull it off, and organization is a tactic that conservatives haven’t discovered yet.

OR it was the direct hand of Satan.

I'm going with that explanation.

NRA Calls Biden Meeting ‘Attack on Second Amendment’
Thursday, January 10, 2013 04:54 PM

By: Todd Beamon

The president of the National Rifle Association said on Thursday that there was no negotiation with the Obama administration on gun rights in an effort to stem violence in the wake of the shootings at a Connecticut elementary school last month.

“There isn’t on guns,” NRA President David Keene told CNN. “There is not on guns, not that I can see.”

**** If you bought a gun since 1968, you filled out a 4473. There is a record. The ATF is not supposed to have this data, but I’ll bet they do. ***

They must have lots of records on me! I bought guns from 1968 through 2000. Problem is I have moved several times, and sold off most of them when I got hungry enough.
I wish I had all of them back now!

***his valuable time and talent on meetings with NRA, Walmart,****

I live in Walmart country. Last night the local news had a segment on Walmart and gun sales, but the video they showed was NOT a Walmart store.
They showed a rack of guns, and a section labeled CLASS III. Walmart does not carry Class III fiirearms.

If the gun ban plans of Obama are just a diversion, what other power grabs is he doing that we don’t know about?

The NRA HAS to keep some Dems on a list, or else gun issue would become so partisan that we would lose big time, every time the dems are in power. That is the biggest reason no gun crap came up when the dems had control over both chambers. NRA doesn’t win them all, and they make decisions that we disagree with, but if it weren’t for them, either we would have already have to have had to fight a revolution, or lost the 2nd.
There are other pro 2a organizations out there, and while they claim to take a harder stand than the NRA, their clout doesn’t even come close.
IMHO, best is to belong to all of them during these times.

Listen to this part again. They are washing the industry as a bunch of illegals. Somebody needs to get the Obama gun-running op to Mehico back on the front page. I absolutely loathe this son of a bitch.

My mom bought my first gun from K-Mart in 1978. I’ll bet that record doesn’t exist, nor should it.

I'd bet that the record still exists, probably in an ATF database. When the K-Mart closed (most of them did), they were obligated to turn over their records to the ATF. If your gun were found at a crime scene, they would most likely be able to tie it to your mother, probably within a few minutes. Even though the purchase happened over 30 years ago.

That is why many people prefer face to face private purchases, and is the primary reason that 0-bamster wants to outlaw the practice. If they can track guns, they know upon whose door to knock when they want to pick it up. This really is de-facto registration.
