REMINDER: The Second Amendment Is Not About Hunting
American Thinker ^ | 01/11/2013 | Michael Geer

You know it. I know it. The unspoken truth is the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America is about citizens resisting and overcoming tyranny.

A common law and natural law right considered for 200+ years as an inalienable right. Speaking plainly, the 2nd is our bulwark against government which becomes despotic.

Armed free citizens are the final bulwark against tyranny by local, state or federal government.

When the Declaration, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights committed our people to founding a new Nation guns were natural and necessary. For putting food on the table and, wait for it, personal defense against hostilities. Armed citizens have a long history of taking action to correct despotic governments. Feudal economies faded away due in no small part to enough peasants acquiring arms. And the will to use them.

Federalist 46. James Madison, known as the author of most of the Bill of Rights said of arms and the common man ...

The reasonings contained in these papers must have been employed to little purpose indeed, if it could be necessary now to disprove the reality of this danger.

I'm almost ready to publish my blog announcing my rifle got lost in that rascally boating accident. Most of the town I live in reads it including the Selectmen.

Yesterday, I joined the NRA. I need some advice as what to do next. Buy a gun? Go to an NRA meeting and find out what type of gun is right for me?

I’m so proud I finally took this small step.

Glad he points this out because if you listen to Dems talk they always suggest that the 2nd amendment is just for hunters, and they wouldnt say this over and over if people didnt believe them.

The 2nd amendment supports what Jefferson wrote in the Declaration. It supports the inalienable right to Life (self-defense), and the inalienable right to Liberty (protection from tyranny). Without those two, there can be no inalienable right to pursue Happiness.

Remember that the Preamble to the Constitution says that We the People established the Constitution to secure the "Blessings of Liberty" for ourselves and our Posterity. The capitalized Liberty refers to the inalienable right to Liberty from the Declaration, and the capitalized Blessings refers to the rights as being endowed by the Creator, which is what makes them inalienable.

As you should be, MM.

I suggest you find a good local gun range, ask for a qualified instructor who will teach you how to handle a firearm properly, give you NRA certification, and select a weapon that's just right for you.

The unspoken truth is the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America is about citizens resisting and overcoming tyranny.

The other unspoken truth is that this is why Obama wants to take our guns away.He wants a peaceful conversion to change the United States from a Free Country to a Communist country ruled by Sharia law.

CASE IN POINT — NY GOVERNOR ANDREW CUOMO IN HIS STATE OF THE STATE SPEECH TWO DAYS AGO.

“The tragic events of just the last few weeks in Newtown, Conn., and West Webster, N.Y., have indelibly taught us guns can cut down small children, firefighters and policemen in a moment,” Cuomo said in his third State of the State address on Wednesday.

“No one hunts with an assault rifle. No one needs 10 bullets to kill a deer,” he said. “End the madness now!”

Cuomo called for tougher state bans on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines of ammunition in a bolstering of the state’s gun control laws, already some of the most restrictive in the nation.

It most certainly is about hunting, just not for game.

It is about hunting down those sent to enslave any man, woman, or child. It is about hunting down those that send armed men out for the purpose of enslavement to their will.

Make no mistake about this. Defense is the first priority. But understand what that really entails. The appetite for evil is insatiable, it knows no limits, and is totally without mercy.

Fending the wolves off once, twice, three times does not eliminate the threat of wolves. They learn, they find weaker victims and create more wolves until they feel numerous and strong enough to resume their attack upon you and yours. The only solution is to seek them out and eliminate them. Surrender is not a viable option for those that seek to live free. It has been this way since time immemorial. All the trappings of civilization and mores are swept away and it always comes down to the same thing.

Always

God help us and have mercy upon us.

Quoting the constitution at this point in our history seems quite laughable anymore!

I heard some clips of his speech (including the quote you use here) and Cuomo sounded like a madman in his ranting - it was awful.

Yesterday, I joined the NRA. I need some advice as what to do next. Buy a gun? Go to an NRA meeting and find out what type of gun is right for me?

First comes training: safety and then shooting technique. I'd inquire through the NRA or local shooting sports association to see what is available in your area. It may be a formal course of instruction for a fee or you might be put in touch with a qualified person who is willing to instruct. Many people will go out of their way to help a beginner.

As for the type of gun, that depends on its intended purpose and your individual needs and preferences. It's best to get a variety of opinions and test-shoot a number of guns before making your decision.

Training your mind is more important in some ways than training your body. You must cultivate the mindset necessary to employ deadly force without qualms or hesitation. You can always wrestle with your conscience later.

Suggest finding a martial arts school that trains for the warrior mindset. The bonus is that not only will you expand the envelope of options for the use of force, you’ll learn the restraint and presence of mind that will assist you in avoiding conflict in the first place.

Stage one of the 2A is the right to bear arms, the other part most people don’t understand or are uneducated about.

And thats the part of organizing your local militia leader, a training program and the storage of materials needed to restore the proper function of the government.

Just having a fully decked out overloaded bling AR isn’t sufficient to overthrow tyranny, it MUST be used.

I’m told the GOA (Gun Owners of America) is a better organization than the NRA. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but the NRA is better known.

What politicians in D.C. are leading the defense of the Second Amendment? The overwhelming silence from the GOP as the DemoQuacks demonize gunowners and contort the Second Amendment is amazing.

Go to an indoor range that rents guns. Start shooting what you think you want and you’ll discover what you actually want.
