It means Walmart suppliers will buy stuff from outside and will paste “Made in America” stickers.

It seems Wal-Mart is getting more and more political.

I recall "old" Wal-Mart had signs everywhere touting "Made in America for Americans" and similar slogans. They disappeared concurrent with the introduction of "Low Prices Always" and the flood of disposable Chinese products.

I'd love to see them come back, but it may be too little too late.

This is good.

However.....

If Wal Mart supports even ONE liberal cause, it will undo all good. Liberal equals evil.

Period.

So, get to it, Wal Mart, stop spending any monies on the Obamadork or any of his sleezy causes.

The moves come as the U.S. economy continues to grow slowly 3-1/2 years after the end of a severe recession.

Considering that this is a "rooters" article, that's mild bias.

It is interesting, however, to see that, with Walmart, the past is prologue. Many years ago, their claim to fame was their supply of "Made in America" goods that typically turned out to be gardening gloves.

I agree with another poster - Walmart will probably continue to purchase goods offshore (China) and slap a "Made in America" label on them.

IOW, ignore that man behind the curtain!!

I freely admit that I am pretty jaded now, but something doesn't pass the smell test here.

First the announcement about hiring Veterans, now the announcement about buying $50 billion of goods ostensibly made in the USA. Color me concerned because my fear is that WalMart is seeming working overtime to stir up Red State support. I really have to wonder of they have capitulated to the Tyrant Obama and agreed to no longer sell guns or ammo once their stock is depleted.

You will recall that very early on Tyrant Obama said that one of his goals was to co-opt retailers like WalMart in his war on the 2nd Amendment.

I hope I am proven wrong, but at this point, I doubt it.

Sounds like more PR spin....Wal Mart has for years forced manufacturers to go to Communist China...or they will not do business with them...Lasko Mfg is a famous Wal Mart/Chi Com victim

Wal Mart is too Free Trade Communist to stop using Communist China. Until pro American tariffs are re introduced...there is no incentive for Wal Mart to get off the Communist Chinese teat

Yeah, and the CEO said they will continue to sell firearms and ammo. It’s really hard to sell something that you don’t put on the shelves. The local Walmarts haven’t had new shipments of ammo in over two months. And they don’t know when they will get some more.

BTW, I ran into an old co-worker who was buying .22’s; but didn’t know the difference between .22Shorts, LR or WMR. Obviously, a newbie in need of a training course.

I remember when I first got out of the Navy (1992) and moved back to Texas from So. California the Wal-Marts were very “Pro-American”, and had “MADE IN THE USA” signs up all over, etc. Of course, that was before the SuperCenter 24 Hrs extravaganzas, too.

$5 billion a year in US made goods is barely a blip on their bank accounts because Walmart does nearly $1 billion A DAY in business.

so after enthusiastically participating, sometimes even demanding, the offshoring of U.S. manufacturing to Asia (if you want our giant account YOU WILL move your production to where you can meet our price demands), and then, since 2008 becoming all in for Obama, Walmart what’s to be sure Obama leaves it alone and will try to keep Obama’s favor with it’s “buy America” campaign.

loyal Americans should see the ploy for what it is - pure politics and politics that does not really give a damn about America, unless it’s spelled Amerika.

Be skeptical about the very terse statements from Walmart, and remember its recent meeting. That company is quite government-connected and has indeed been manipulated by socialist political interests in some states (firearms and ammunition selections in some states very limited for years now).
