Charles Schumer, and a new president, Bill Clinton, in the White House, the Brady Bill waiting period passed the U.S. Congress and was signed into law on November 30. It didn’t take long for the “second step to be unveiled. Eight days later on December 8, 1993, Sarah and Jim Brady of Handgun Control, Inc. and Rep. Charles Schumer called a press conference to announce their intention to file “Brady Bill II.” …

1. Requires a license to buy a gun
2. Requires fingerprinting to buy a handgun
3. Requires gun training for a license to buy a handgun
4. Requires a permanent seven-day waiting period
5. Requires national registration of gun transfers to track guns and gun owners
6. Requires a special license to own a “gun arsenal” (search for guns)
7. Requires a special license to own 1,000 rounds of ammunition
8. Requires gun dealers to pay an annual license fee of $1,000
9. Limits sale to one gun a month to any individual
10. Requires a separate federal license to sell ammunition
11. Bans firearms sales at Gun Shows
12. Bans semi-automatic “assault weapons”
13. Bans “Saturday Night Special” handguns
14. Bans all “non-sporting” ammunition
15. Requires surtax of 30% on handguns
16. Requires surtax of 50% on handgun ammunition

Nothing much new under the sun. It will be interesting to see how the 18 points of Brady Bill II square with the 19 EOs BHO presents later today. Haven’t seen a clear listing yet of NY Governor Cuomo’s gun control bill yet. Maybe someone can post it on this thread.

Pinto, former chief credit officer at Fannie Mae, said "they should have known the risks were large. Cuomo was pushing mortgage bankers to make loans and basically saying you have to offer a loan to everybody."[9] But others disagree with the assessment that Cuomo caused the crisis. Dean Baker, co-director of the Center for Economic and Policy Research, said Cuomo "was a contributor in terms of him being a cheerleader, but I don't think we can pin too much blame on him."[9]

It is later than we think. Here’s hoping (and hope is not a strategy) that the 30 GOP governors will stand up against BHO. But BHO will hold them hostage with threats to freeze federal subsidies like Medicaid, grants, road funds, etc.

That is because the plan is to implement total gun control on the public. Here is what Nelson "Pete" Shields (founder of HCI, now the Brady Center)had to say.

Nelson T. 'Pete' Shields Founder of Handgun Control, Inc. "I'm convinced that we have to have federal legislation to build on. We're going to have to take one step at a time, and the first step is necessarily — given the political realities — going to be very modest. Of course, it's true that politicians will then go home and say, 'This is a great law. The problem is solved.' And it's also true that such statements will tend to defuse the gun-control issue for a time.

So then we'll have to strengthen that law, and then again to strengthen that law, and maybe again and again. Right now, though, we'd be satisfied not with half a loaf but with a slice.

Our ultimate goal — total control of handguns in the United States — is going to take time. My estimate is from seven to ten years. The problem is to slow down the increasing number of handguns sold in this country.

The second problem is to get them all registered. And the final problem is to make the possession of all handguns and all handgun ammunition — except for the military, policemen, licensed security guards, licensed sporting clubs, and licensed gun collectors — totally illegal."

The assault weapons ban is just a foot in the door to ban handguns. Thirty years ago HCI put out a press release that they ONLY wanted to control handguns. Long guns would not be affected.

Then they found they could use it as a stepping stone to handgun control.
