My lab Solitare thinks the driveway is a skating rink in the snow.

She gets up speed and then slams on the brakes so she can slide as far as possible.

What a beautiful dog. I had a German Shepherd when I was much younger. I love them, such an elegant looking species and totally smart.

All my dogs over the years have loved snow, But Linda-The-Dog, like most Florida Children, has never even seen it.

Saw someone trying to walk their husky just after our last blizzard. She was standing there freezing, while the dog was rolling in the snow with a big, goofy grin on its face!

My Bubby, 6 months old, his first snow.

Pookie in front, Gypsy in hot pursuit...:)

Bubby looks to be enjoying himself. When my now big GSD was a puppy, it snowed. He was terrified! Big baby cried till he saw the other dogs having fun (and I think laughing at him). He now loves it!

He approached it with the same cavalier attitude as everything else ...insane, throw caution to the wind, unbridled joy.
[which is why I have to be careful with him...he fears nothing...even when he should]...:D

A few days later, we had a blizzard that dumped almost another 3 feet.
We had to plow a ‘maze’ in the yard so they could run and the next day, the snow had crusted over and Gypsy was able to jump out of the maze and run on the top...mostly.

He was chasing her from the maze as she ran above him and then suddenly, she hit a soft spot and ‘disappeared’.

You should’ve seen the look on his face.

[and mine, as I panicked, thinking I’d never find her in the drifts in time to save her]

Somehow, seconds later, she blasted out of a hole in the snow bank and back into their maze, full tilt.

Life is never dull...LOL

We took him up the crick on his birthday last summer to see the water.

He stomped right through the shallow parts and flung himself right into the deep.

Luckily, I had him on a leash and pulled him out before he went downstream.

Then he became obsessed with the crawdads in their holes and was sticking his face under, trying to nab one.

[the dog’s kinda dumb that way]

:)

Beautiful photos! The snow is therapeutic for my Golden who has skin allergies. Rolling in the snow calms them down until spring when the grasses cause him to flare up again. He’s having a hard time this year, however, and has not achieved that ‘calm down’ level.

One of my daughter’s standard poodles experienced snow for the first time. She’s sort of a prissy thing and wasn’t sure what to do at first. Now she loves it, just like her male companion.
