NRA planning ‘the fight of the century’ against Obama
The Washington Post's Post Politics ^ | January 16, 2013 | Sari Horwitz

The National Rifle Association cast its opposition to Obama’s plans as “the fight of the century” in a letter circulated at the 35th annual Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade Show and Conference, known in the trade as “the SHOT show,” in Las Vegas.

“I warned you this day was coming and now it’s here,” Wayne LaPierre, the NRA’s fiery executive vice president, wrote in a fund-raising letter to the group’s 4 million members. “It’s not about protecting your children. It’s not about stopping crime. It’s about banning your guns … PERIOD!”

The letter reflected the NRA’s tough, no-holds-barred campaign against tighter restrictions on weapons and echoed a sharp video released by the group that calls Obama an “elitist hypocrite” for having the Secret Service protect his two daughters at school while saying that he is “skeptical” about armed guards in all schools.

The SHOT show draws more than 60,000 gun enthusiasts, dealers and manufacturers to see the latest weapons and accoutrements. The convention floor contains 12 miles of firearms displays, mostly military-style assault rifles, and many booths display the kinds of high-capacity clips the administration wants to ban.

On Wednesday, the brass from the NRA and other gun-advocacy groups spent the day in closed-door sessions planning a response to Obama’s proposals, according to people close to the groups who spoke on condition their names not be used in describing internal deliberations...

"And because they by nature have limited capacity, ..."

The sheriff had about 20 of 'em chained into his rack on the wall.

THANKS!

I had not looked for ammo in some time for it as it’s a mantlepiece now and the previous pricing I saw pretty much assured it would stay one. But at this price...

Well, had it not been stolen by those bearded and robed holy men a few posts back, I might find a use for it ;)

agreed, if we’re going to stop this madness then we need to go after the media, it is they who are informing the low info voters out there and the sad part is that these low info voters actually hear the media and then repeat the talking points to their family , neighbors and friends

People say, "It's not the gun, it is the person.

same goes for the DBM. It is not the "media." It is the person.Go alinsky on THEM.

Target the individual, their phone number, their address, picket in front of their home, call attention to their misdeeds and treasonous verbiage.

Address them personally with letters, e mail and other communication, letters to the local rag et.

I’d lean towards a 4th of July family competition at a local range early in the day prior to retiring to the grille and campfire with adult beverages.

Keep an eye peeled on Harry Reid. It will be interesting to see which way he goes on this issue. He is a member of the NRA (maybe even an officer), but he is also sold out to Obama.

So, which way will he swing?

I have told the NRA that I will not give them any money, or dues, or anything else until they renounce Harry Reid. All my money goes to the Gunowners of America (GOA) and to the Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership (JPFO). I’d suggest that the rest of you consider doing the same.

Is anything they can legally say or do really going to matter in the end?

The last time it was fired, it was in 100% working order and is cleaned and maintained regularly. I have no doubt it will go from mantlepiece to functional weapon at the first pull of the trigger ;) Those lever guns may not be ARs, but I don’t wanna get shot by one.

I am really surprised A major mfg still makes ammo for it. Last I heard They’d quit (not Hornady specifically). And as time went by, figured a 100ish YO gun probably should be kept nice and safe for obvious reasons anyway. So I never really looked hard for ammo and my last look scared the ‘lead’ outta me at the price I saw. But I’d never think twice about using it if I had to.

Hmm, I wonder about those conservatives who stayed home on election day and whether they think Romney would want to take their guns away. He wouldn’t have tried. But then, maybe it’s just time to fight like hell and let the chips fall where they may.

Who here really believes that Mr. Lee Harvey Oswald shot President John F. Kennedy?

Who here really believes the US Government planned, financed and executed 9/11?

I think I’ve seen just about everything, now. DUer’s are patting Mexico on the back for it’s “low” gun crimes/gun violence.

Actually caught one of them once...

It was sneaking it’s way out of my gun safe...nosing around on the floor...almost...almost like it was SNIFFING the air, looking for innocent people to...to...

No...I can’t bear the imagery...

(temporarily un-manned here....collapsed on floor, sobbing)

Okay... I’m, I’m better now.

So I jumped on it and yelled harsh language at it...it whimpered - WHIMPERED, I tell you - and ran back into the safe.

It was terrifying...

“...exotic alloys...”

Think of all those poor, defenseless Alloys that died - in droves - to make those evil things... I hear tell they have farms where they grow them just for the purpose of...of...[sobbing]

Aren’t Alloys on the “Endangered Species” list now???

They should be.

Save The Alloys...!!! Ban Alloy Farms!!!
