A hospital performing births?

That is such *odd* language.

There have been problems with trying to get obstetricians for a long time. Too many tort lawyers driving up malpractice premiums. Now, Obamacare is rationing healthcare (by holding down reimbursements). How long until we all decide to get government out of healthcare and reform tort law?

A hospital..no longer delivering babies..because of Obamacare..but wait..I thought Obamacare would cut the cost of healthcare/sarc
Perhaps if instead of delivering babies, they were performing abortions the Dems would do everything in their power to make sure it continued

I don’t know how representative that is: these kind of things vary from one area to another. The obstetrics unit of our local hospital is constantly enlarging and was out of beds entirely Sunday night. Also had to borrow obstetricians Wednesday or Thursday from another hospital (they have privileges back and forth).

I noticed in the article Windber Medical Center delivers around 200 babies a year. That is really low. I am in a town of 50,000 (Washington State) and the hospital I spoke of above delivers 2,200/yr.

The Windber Medical Center will stop delivering babies after March 31 because its obstetricians are either leaving or refocusing their practices, and because hospital officials believe they can't afford it based on projected reimbursements under looming federal health care reforms...hmmm - haven't talked to her for awhile, but I wonder how my niece, who's in the second year of her OB/GYN residency in Philly and was a big Obama fan back in 2008, is faring these days - I sure hope she isn't having second thoughts.........

Since these government reimbursements are for births, I assume this in reference to Medicaid payments. Shouldn’t lower Medicaid spending be a good thing?
