It’s good to know they are interchangeable now...I’ve always wanted an automatic.

"Single-shot" is usually used in contrast with "repeating," or "magazine-fed," and is most commonly used with rifles like falling-block Sharps or break-open guns like a H&R Handirifle.

"Single shot" refers to loading each cartridge by hand, one at a time.

So, is Obama shooting off EOs from a fully automatic or semi-auto weapon? Rate of fire suggests his weapon is set on fully automatic, with a belt feed, which means it’s been altered way beyond the original bolt action model he is authorized to use.

To be sure, semiautomatic pistols were referred to, and marketed as "Automatics":

Indeed, the official government nomenclature for the 1911 and 1911A1 is, "Automatic Pistol, Caliber .45, M1911," and "Automatic Pistol, Caliber .45, M1911A1."

Originally, the term "automatic" was simply a shorthand annotation for, "automatic loading." While the terms may have been applied loosely and imprecisely, the function between a semi- and fully automatic firearm is clear. The terminology is simply being used to cloud the issue and agitate the ignorant.

We are foolish when we play by the rules of Lawyers. In the end this small minded "tactical" thinking will do more harm than good.

Why do we debate ? Are any of us willing to disarm because a poll or an activist judge or a lawyer wins an argument ?

We need to think and act strategically. This is my method.

STICK TO YOUR GUNS

Well hell. Don't stop there!

"Nuclear / Chemical Weapons of Mass Terrorism" may be used interchangeably with "Handgun", I suppose. Then you can justify this headline:

OBAMA WANTS TO BAN NUCLEAR / CHEMICAL WEAPONS OF MASS TERRORISM, NRA OPPOSES

This falls in line with anti-gun propaganda.

Josh Sugarmann
Violence Policy Center Director

“Assault weapons... are a new topic. The weapons’ menacing looks, coupled with the public’s confusion over fully-automatic machine guns versus semi-automatic assault weapons — anything that looks like a machine gun is assumed to be a machine gun — can only increase the chance of public support for restrictions on these weapons.”

-Josh Sugarmann, “Assault Weapons: Analysis, New Research and Legislation”, March 1989

“The NRA is right...handgun controls do little to stop criminals from obtaining handguns.”

-Josh Sugarman, former communications director for the Coalition Against Gun Violence

Although the M16 I carried in Viet Nam was capable of full auto, I don’t ever remember firing, even in a firefight, more than one round at a time. In auto, you can’t control where the rounds go after the first one, so why waste ammo.

If we let them control the vocabulary, we may as well give up right now.

I for one refuse to do so. I had a conversation with a friend who is a republican last night. She remarked to me that “nobody needs an assault weapon”. I asked her, “what is an assault weapon?”. She described an automatic weapon and was astounded when I explained that such weapons have been so tightly regulated since 1934, that there are very, very few in the hands of the public. I then defined a semi-automatic, and she remarked that her WW2 vet father’s target pistol would come under that definition.

She now gets it. We must not, under any circumstances, allow the leftists to define our vocabulary and the terms to define the freedoms we champion.

I had a similar experience with my mother. She was saying semi automatic weapons should be banned, nobody needs one of those things. I said to her that dad had about 10 of them). She looked at me like I was insane. I said what do you think he hunted with all those years.

The leftists bank on this kind of mistake. People do not understand the huge lie the gun grabbers are putting forward.

Colt automatic pistol (1907) was advertised “8 shots in 1 3/5 seconds.”

I can only imagine what an automatic assault rifle could do! Probably like 80 shots a second? No wonder they are so dangerous—a literal wall of lead. Oh, the humanity!
