Political Insiders: Republicans Divided on How to Address Gay Marriage [retread troll zot]
National Journal ^ | January 10, 2013 | Alex Roarty, Naureen Khan and Peter Bell

Posted on 01/17/2013 10:44:03 AM PST by Brightitude

DEMOCRATS (109 VOTES)
My party should support it: 97%
My party should oppose it: 0%
My party should avoid the issue: 2%
Other: 1%

"Marriage equality is a vote-getter for Democrats and a vote-loser for the party of the last century, the Republicans."

"More and more states are adopting marriage equality, and it is time for the U.S.A. to lead on this issue."

"No issue has changed more dramatically than support for gay marriage over the last 10 years. In 20 years, it won't even be an issue."

"It's a nonissue. Americans support the concept. Let's move on!"...

REPUBLICANS (99 VOTES)
My party should support it: 27%
My party should oppose it: 11%
My party should avoid the issue: 48%
Other: 14%

"Wouldn't it be fascinating if, for once, the Republicans were on the front side of a historic wave, rather than thrashed around in the undertow?"

"There is a conservative case in favor of gay marriage that can easily be made around the issues of smaller government and lower taxes."

"We can't be a party that supports a zone of personal freedom and then try to use federal power to curtail it. Plus, we increasingly look prejudiced, and not a little stupid, on this issue."...

What Brightitude and liberals fail to understand is that IF they offer “moral equivalence of a marriage between a man and a woman” to homosexual pairing, they will then have to offer said equivalence to other pairings as well.
Like, human and animal, adult and adolescent etc etc to way beyond the point of bereftness of any sense or seeming reality.
[”I wanna marry my toaster!” Yes, that could happen eventually if this road is followed.]

You had me agreeing with you here.... How people can truly say that 2 people of the same sex doing acts with their bodies is not a problem.

But I'm in disagreement with you here.   What you do in your private life is none of my business unless you are bringing a small child into those acts of behavior.

If they do things in their lives that I know nothing of, it's their home, their space. I am not about to go into a person's home with a camera. That is over stepping. When they take this issue public, that's different.

I don’t believe this article. This is a liberal publication. If the Republicans endorse gay marriage, they are finished as party. And why does anyone encourage a lifestyle that is basically unhealthy, or to be more explicit, how can sodomy be healthy?

And it gets worse.

If we as a nation have to accept and endorse gay marriages, then we will lose any religous freedom to take a stand against gay marriages.

It’s common practice in England and Europe for courts to force Christians to tolerate this stuff.

And its happening in the US as well.

We no longer have Freedom of Religion.
We no longer can peacably assemble.
We no longer can speak our minds or protest the government for fear of censure at our jobs or even harrassment from the organs of the state.

There was a time when all 50 states had Sodomy laws on the books. It was a great time for America. I know. I lived in those times.

Call me a homophobe, or anachronistic, or out of my mind or worse.

But I would to God that we could return to those times.

And - as events this week foretell - we soon will have no 2nd Amendment rights that we rely on to peacably protect ourselves.

And if the 2nd goes... all the rest of ‘em are going as well. I read yesterday that the 2nd Amendment is the foundation that the other 9 depend on.

How true.

That is true.
The Founders viewed the 2nd Amendment as the guarantor of the rest.

It is very difficult to endure what is happening in our society; to peacefully enjoy ones life if you are committed to God's word. These times are upside down. We all have to be strong to our faith, caring people too, and by thinking/knowing that we are not the problem. We are being pounded by the academics, the media, the politicians worldwide to attack our faith. Mature people who decide to go along are weak. Kids are weak, not mature, so they are being sought after for conform. These politicians we look up to (since they have the power), have the weight of our culture on them. So, here comes more attacks and indoctrination from this original poster to use these tactics on weak republicans.

Oh, you mean become Democrat-lite? Who the heck needs two parties anyway, all of us should support deviance and perversion once the larger culture deems it acceptable? Should the GOP also be in the vanguard of celebrating pedophilia, there are groups out there now, just as long ago in the sodomite movement, supporting this, should the right be out front so as not to look like a lot of fuddy-duddys? That’s the important thing, right, not having convictions and the courage to stand by thm?

You are absolutely right. And while I acknowledge its dangerous to have a government with so much power as to actually have laws pertaining to what you can do in the privacy of your own bedroom, I still maintain BASED ON ACTUAL US HISTORY that a return to Sodomy laws are essential and necessary things that can save this country.

Other things are an end to abortion, an end to the social welfare state, and a restoration of trust and faith in our government based on Godly and moral leaders.

Unless and untill we return America to the glory years we once knew, we will just be spinning our wheels regarding debt, unemployment, welfare, immigration, and all other social and economic issues.
