Obama Playing Chicken with American Men
American Thinker ^ | 1/18/13 | Daren Jonescu

The Obama administration's current warpath against so-called "gun violence" -- which is Newspeak for non-violence committed by non-criminals with their non-illegal private property -- is a brazen challenge to America's manhood. The progressives have apparently decided that this is the moment when they can play their ultimate authoritarian hand, and let the chips fall where they may. They believe, in other words, that this is the moment when they may be able to break America at last, one way or another.

Through Obama's forceful, smug insistence on taking action in defiance of Congress, along with the aggressive urging to do so from his sycophants in the progressive elite -- from the vice president and the senate majority leader on down -- the leftists are engaging in a game of chicken with the American spirit that is disturbing both for its immediate intentions and for its revelation of their thought process and game plan.

In light of the well-known fact that their proposals and trial balloons will be judged by millions of Americans to be an outright violation of constitutionally protected liberties -- and liberties of the most emotionally trenchant nature, namely those related to the very foundations of limited government -- the progressives' deliberate projection of haste and intransigence on gun control must not merely be taken at face value, and judged on its "merits." It must also be interpreted -- in other words, one must ask precisely what they are hoping to achieve by attacking the most deeply held principles of so many Americans in such a heavy-handed fashion.

It seems to me that there are two plausible interpretations of their open chastisement of "all this debate" over Second Amendment concerns, i.e., their boisterous spitting upon the U.S. Constitution.

The first option is that they believe the citizenry of

The time is near at hand which must determine whether Americans are to be free men or slaves.

I started a thread here, this morning that intrigued me for it's obvious comparison to today, and this thread just begs Thomas Paine's words;

"But as the same constitution which gives the Commons a power to check the King by withholding the supplies, gives afterwards the King a power to check the Commons, by empowering him to reject their other bills; it again supposes that the King is wiser than those whom it has already supposed to be wiser than him. A mere absurdity!"

The writer seems to dismiss women with the title of this piece.

“The challenge facing the men of America — not the mere “males,” but the men — is becoming clearer, starker, and more essential every day.”

Women are arming themselves. What about them? Do they not count?

Absolutely, stunning, totally-true article about the situation. Wow. This is a must read and needs to get to Rush Limbaugh and every other conservative talk-show host for mention as soon as possible.

The postulation works both ways:

If Americans are too chicken to fight against federal gestapo thugs, then those same Americans are too chicken to pound on doors and demand that people surrender their weapons.

Nobody can guess what will happen until it happens. It’s all conjecture.

The only American example we have of what happens when the federal government declares war on its citizens is the Civil War when the army broke in two and we had a war.

The other example we can look at is Libya. When Kaddhafi ordered his army to attack Libyans, more than 75% deserted and returned to their provinces to protect their families. Kaddhafi and his elite mercenaries ended up dead after the deserters joined with the provincial militias and wiped them out.

At least somebody’s willing (and so far, still able) to talk about the problem.

If so-called “conservatives” aren’t drawing up impeachment documents, they should be.

Hundreds of thousands of Americans have died fighting for the freedoms that we are allowing the Left to take away during this un-American president’s tenure in office. Shame on the U.S. for allowing this small group of Marxist revolutionaries to take over our country without firing a shot.

The fight to keep and bear arms is the hill to die on. It is the bedrock of individual rights in this country.

No—hussein is using children as his “card” this time in order to garner sympathy from a majority of people who have no education or understanding of history and/or the Constitution.

I worry about that. At the most simplistic level, all political systems are either Collectivist or Individualist. Socialists, Communists, Fascists, and Democrats are all Collectivists. There are few examples of Individualists systems -- what we are trying to preserve is perhaps the only one.

Men in a collective can do very bad things -- peer pressure, shared, guilt, whatever. Groups do things that individuals will not do (are unwilling to do). Will a group of cowards pound on a door and take away a father from a screaming family? Yes, a group of cowards will do that -- because they are a group.

So the question is: Will an individual stand strong against tyranny, even when it travels in packs? Some indivuals will, certainly. But as many men have become neutered, the pool of courageous individuals declines -- but the mass of cowardly group-thinkers who will do anything they are told to do is probably about as large as ever. That's bad.

They are, in the majority, already on Obama’s side. Women, esp. single women, pretty much elected him.

“I worry about that. At the most simplistic level, all political systems are either Collectivist or Individualist.”

Good point. What Americans fear is that they will need to stand alone if confiscation starts, but back up that individual with a dozen men and the recipe changes - strength in numbers.

Conservatives, at present, are crap at organizing. But once they get going, there are none better.

There’s legislation going forward in some states to arrest and disarm federal fascists. When the individuals states band together and pledge to back individual citizens, then we have another different scenario. I’ve never seen this before, and patriots are running for state legislative seats that will make this happen. We have one individual running for a special election state house seat. His platform is resistance to the federal government, and he’ll likely win the election.

Many who are older will see there is nothing to lose when the other option is living under the thumb of government tyranny with the sheep that are left.

There are others that will lick the hand that feeds them.

Gun Violence is a euphemism for Gun Ownership, which is what the left wants to restrict, for obvious reasons.

In case any of you were not aware, Ruger has a feature on their website right now that allows you to send a message to your elected representatives with a few mouse clicks.
