Don't Confuse My Heartfelt Convictions With Racism

Being born in the Deep South when the Jim Crow laws were in full force and seeing, firsthand, the cruelty and downright stubborn foolishness of segregation and all it's attendant inequities, I have a very vivid and candid impression of what the word "racist" really means.

Having lived through those days and, on my own, shook off the yoke of racial prejudice that was once so firmly ingrained in me, I deeply resent the careless and reckless use of the word by people who are merely trying to be insulting, having absolutely no idea of the gravity of it's meaning.

Disagreeing with somebody of a different race, color or religion does not constitute racism; racism is when you disagree with somebody because of what they are, not because of a difference of opinions.

Otherwise, every time you watched a football game with black players on the opposing team, by virtue of disagreeing with them about who should win the game you would be a racist.

If you disagree with President Obama, as I often do, you are sure to be accused of racism by some individual who doesn't have enough imagination or is too prejudiced themselves to come up with a valid argument about why what you've said is wrong in their opinion so they hide behind insults, innuendo and hyperbole, unable to defend their position, many times because they don't really know what their position is, being basically political parrots, only able to repeat what they've read or heard.

My disagreements with President Obama have nothing to do with his race; I actually couldn't care less what his race he is. My concern is that he is centralizing the federal government in an attempt to make it an all-powerful entity unanswerable to anybody, even the citizens it purports to serve.

I believe that President Obama has mistakenly perceived the election he just won as a mandate to make this nation in the image of what he thinks it should be which will continue to tear it apart as the opinions of roughly half the population will be ignored.

I don't think he takes the Constitution seriously and will attempt to subvert it by presidential fiat, executive privilege and backdoor, midnight deals with Congress, getting his way by any method at his disposal.

It is my belief that this nation is on its way to becoming an undereducated, under-motivated country with an inferior military, a devalued currency and a Congress that is nothing more than a figurehead.

I believe that, as the entitlement society grows under Obama's watch, they will become a monolithic political force and will elect local and federal candidates who will give them more and more.

I believe that the one government entity with a steady hand on the wheel, the Supreme Court, will become a rubber stamp as the members retire and Obama type presidents appoint new ones and the sheep in the Senate confirm them.

I believe that Obama and his ilk will never rest until private ownership of firearms is banned and the Congress and Supreme Court will subvert the Constitution and uphold the legislation.

I believe that as long as the United States of America continues to spend billions of dollars more than it takes in we will continue our downhill slide to fiscal insolvency.

I believe that this round of tax hikes is just the beginning and that Obama will say that he needs to lower the bar and tax people in a lower income bracket this will be a pattern until every productive member of society is taxed up to and beyond their limits.

I believe that private money invested in the stock market will dry up for the most part as the tax burden becomes heavier.

I believe that several states will go belly up and the government will bail them out and they will go right back to the same silly fiscal policies that got them in trouble to start with.

I believe that more and more industry will move out of this nation taking jobs, we can't afford to lose, with them.

I believe that if fully implemented, Obama care will be a cold heartless program meted out by bureaucrats and will promote euthanasia, even more abortion and seriously lower the overall standard of health care.

I believe that the U.S. dollar will stop being the accepted trade currency for the world

And hyperinflation will follow, shortly after.

I believe the federal government will one day suddenly run completely out of funds. It won't be able to borrow any more and, when the entitlement checks and food stamps don't go out, there will be mass and uncontrollable rioting in the cities.

I believe that martial law will be declared, posse comitatus will be ignored and federal troops will be used on American soil to quell the violence, which means a complete collapse in American society.

That is my problem with President Obama. Don't confuse my heartfelt convictions with racism.

Anymore things are such that being called a racist is, in fact, a badge of honor. Similarly, being branded a McCarthyite, a homophobe, intolerant, gun nut or Bible-thumper are no longer taken as pejoratives when they come from the Christian-hating, Southern-hating, American-hating left. When those terms are flung my way by liberals, it merely means that they're losing the battle and have only invective as their last resort in their puny arsenal.

Using the race card/calling names, remind me of when I was a kid in elementary school. Grown men/women, using child-like behavior today should be called what it is. Childish!!

My grandmother used to say “pay no attention to them and they’ll stop”.

We should ridicule instead of trying to argue with such behavior. Lower them to their status of children when they call anyone racist.

Also, this thing about the Republicans being pro-slavery. It was the DEMOCRATS who were pro-slavery. Even today they are using the black race to further their cause...not to help them.

I think Charlie Daniels is a wise man and I am happy to have been a fan since the early 1970s when I first heard his music.

I grew up in the South and my childhood was the 1960s. I have seen first hand many like Charlie Daniels who might have been raised with the racial prejudice that was common then, but overcame it to see things clearly.

We may not want to remember, but our second civil war, the one we fought in the 1960s, was necessary, unfortunately.

I also know which party was the primary home for the racists and used its power to keep things the way they had "always been". It's the same one calling people racist now.

No matter how they frame their arguments, it's rarely about principle with them. It's about amassing and hoarding their power.

The transformation of the South from the onetime region of slavery to the land of freedom and liberty is remarkable. By and large, Southerners are good, God-fearing, Bible-believing people which is why a change of heart was done in just generation. The maps below show the states of the Confederacy and those states where Right to Work is the law:

Note that every single state of the old Confederacy now stands in solid opposition to the slavery of unionism. The metamorphosis which you and I have witnessed in our lifetime (and which Charlie Daniels cites) is breathtaking. The "Solid South" is back and stands as the vanguard against tyranny.

Since guns are a chief component of freedom, it's clear that that Dixie is the region where liberty is indeed most valued. I despair when I see articles like this one, because the constant drumbeat of denial simply validates the mindless drivel of low information imbeciles, inside of Congress or out.
It is a waste of time.

Why do so many people keep allowing themselves to be baited to continue beating that manufactured dead horse, at the expense of focusing on the abysmal actions of the most incompetent, arrogant and criminal president in history!

The only thing missing in this "Alice in Wonderland" political scene is the accusation that criticizing and attacking Pelosi, Debbie Whatshername and John Boehner is also racist because they support and enable a despicable person who ignores the very foundations of the Republic and would singlehandedly restructure, with impunity, everything that defines what was the greatest nation on earth.

Forty years ago, if anyone had written a novel depicting the actual events of the last 6 years, it would be laughed off the newstands.

The amount of effort necessary to accomplish it all boggles the mind, and I personally still find it impossible to believe that it was all even possible.

I do, too.

I was fortunate to have known not one, but two Ku Klux Klan members in my youth. Neither was stupid, though both were poorly educated. They were mean-spirited, vindictive, hateful men, though pleasant enough with me. They impressed me as irrational, though one was articulate and able to mimic logic fairly well.

Having seen overt, hard core racism, I can truthfully tell you it's become exceedingly rare among Caucasians since my youth. I believe we simply outgrew it. We saw it didn't provide a benefit, cost us more than it could ever have given us in terms of advantages, and was rude at the very least and morally wrong at the heart of the matter. I assume you could still find a few Klansmen today, but if you wanted to join a klavern, you'd have to accommodate yourself to rubbing elbows with lots of FBI informants.

If you want to look at serious racism today, you've got to hang out with black people involved in the racial grievance industry. Only the colors differ between their racism and the Ku Klux Klan's; curiously, those I've met are as filled with Jew hatred as klansmen ever were. Some things never change, I guess.

I hope hateful blacks will grow up the same way hateful whites did; the thoroughly race-saturated feral government, however, doesn't make that easier.

A forlorn hope, I'm afraid.
For a large hateful group to continue to exist, it must be free from the minutiae and worry normal people have... having a job, maintaining a home, caring for all of their family's needs and maintaining at least some casual awareness of the political and economic state of their community and their country.
Our current dystopic society has become a gigantic fertile petri dish breeding and maintaining a perfect explosive group that can be manipulated in any direction by demagogues. This is supplemented by the taxpayer-funded army of politicians and bureaucrats, dedicated to maintaining it. This has become a giant irresistible force balanced only by the productive segment of society, which has been shrinking at an accelerated pace. And hateful is as hateful does. The ingredients are everywhere in the MSM. The resistance is bewildered and confused.

Barring a gigantic and serious societal or political Black Swan, conditions will continue unimpeded, hateful or not. Hate fuels violence and violence can only be defeated by bigger and better violence.

What are the famous historical words? "These are the times that try mens's souls..."
