'Taxation Without Representation' plates on Obama motorcade
The Hill ^ | 1/19/13 | Kevin Bogardus

President Obama’s motorcade sported “Taxation Without Representation” license plates for the first time on Saturday.

As part of the National Day of Service kicking of a weekend of inaugural events, the president has traveled to the Burrville Elementary School in Northeast Washington to participate in a City Year service project. Three vans in Obama’s motorcade were outfitted with the unique D.C. license plates as the president traveled to the school, according to a White House pool reporter.

The reporter said other vehicles in the motorcade had Maryland, Virginia or U.S. government plates.

The White House decision earlier this week to use the license plates was considered a victory for D.C. statehood advocates. Obama had avoided using the plates during his first term as president.

“President Obama has lived in the District now for four years, and has seen first-hand how patently unfair it is for working families in D.C. to work hard, raise children and pay taxes, without having a vote in Congress,” the White House said in a statement earlier this week.

Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D) is the District’s sole representative on Capitol Hill. Norton is a “non-voting” member who can only vote on legislation during committee hearings.

The people get the government they DESERVE.

They not only had their chance to keep him out, they also had a chance to get rid of him.

Fools, idiots.

Well... I suppose - if we had to - we could just let the people who are residents of DC vote as part of an adjacent, existing liberal state... They couldn’t really change much that way, and they could finally shut up. They wouldn’t get any more senators... and their population is probably small enough that it wouldn’t add any representatives to an adjacent state, or at most, maybe one....

The problem would be finding a state - even a liberal one - that would want that sink-hole voting in and as a part of their state!

D.C. is represented by the whole of Congress. Founding Fathers didn’t want it to be a state voting largess for itself. Or at least that’s what my history books said in the early 60s.

over the passed 14 years I have contacted my congress critters regarding various issues that were either wrong headed or taking us down the wrong path

in all that time, my congress critter has not once mentioned a position, let alone my position, on any of these items... including the latest issue with the gun grabbers

so yea... I’m not being represented at all... tho I find it oddly fitting the marxist would have this plate on his car... especially when driving to get sworn in... for an office he has NEVER OFFICIALLY submitted ANY documentation that proves eligibility. not on sheet to any state... any where

Couple this crap with Puerto Rico and their posssible two more Senators and a Congressman and you have a real Democrat juggernaut that never will be thrown out of power.

Not NO, but Hell Frigging NO! No way, no how, nevahappen GI....

Not to mention that administration of the national seat of government is a power constitutionally delegated to Congress, for exactly the reason you cite. Addressing this issue in the manner some in Washington desire would require a constitutional amendment that essentially changes D.C. from a federal district (which is what the Framers intended) to a state (which is most assuredly NOT what they intended.)

If a voter doesn't like the status of Washington, D.C., as a federal district, then the solution is clear: move out of D.C. to a state. Like North Dakota, perhaps, which would surely be one of the 13 states that would would cast its vote against any such amendment, thereby insuring its demise.

All the DC plates say that.
The CORRECT answer to that is to give DC back to Maryland, all except the federal district around the White Hut, Capital and Mall.

Suggestion: Reduce the “District of Columbia” to a very small area, that encompasses the immediate area of the Capitol Building, the White (Hut), and the Supreme Court building, and allow the remainder to revert to Maryland, as a new additional county, or divide the metro area up, so it reverts as part of Montgomery county, and part of Prince George’s county.

A similar thing was once done to another part of the original District, in that Arlington county, Virginia, was created, there was no contest about that.

The District, as it now exists, hardly makes a decent township. Never could be a viable state.

And as far as “Taxation without Representation” goes, the thinly disguised “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2011” tax legislation pretty much does just that for most Americans.

Want more examples of “taxation without representation”? Try the built-in inflation that shall soon be hitting EVERY pocketbook out there, which is a largely invisible but very real tax on all our future income, feeding as it does the enormous and growing perennial national debt that never ceases growing.

As for an adjustment period for Maryland, to absorb the costs of supporting this new population expansion - the Federal government gives Maryland $10B the first year, then as the new communities get integrated into the economies of Prince George’s and Montgomery counties, reduce the Federal payment by $1B each year until year 10, when the Federal payment becomes zero.

There is no way in Hell that the likes of Ben Cardin, Barbara Mikulski and Donna Edwards - my putative Congress-critters - can represent me!

A better license Plate motto for the Obama Regime would be "I got mine - how you doin'?"

Keep Faith with the Fallen of Benghazi! Let the Obama Regime, for once, tell the Truth!

Fiat Justitia, Ruat Coelum!

Genuflectimus non ad principem sed ad Principem Pacis!

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

Taxation WITH representation is a whole hell of a lot worse than when we had taxation WITHOUT representation.

Just sayin'.
