Five Dead; Teen Accused In Killing Spree (NM-Son shoots entire family)
The Albuquerque Journal ^ | January 21, 2013 | Jeff Proctor and Patrick Lohmann

Posted on 01/21/2013 6:53:58 AM PST by CedarDave

It was a “horrific” crime scene that confronted deputies Saturday night: Pastor Greg Griego, his wife, Sarah, and their three youngest children lay dead — fatally shot multiple times with an assault rifle and other weapons — at their South Valley home.

The suspect in custody is the couple’s 15-year-old son, Nehemiah Griego, who authorities believe shot and killed his mother, young brother and two young sisters about 1 a.m. Saturday, and then lay in wait for five hours before ambushing his father when he came home.

The Journal also has learned that authorities believe Nehemiah then put several loaded weapons, including the assault rifle, in the family van with the plan to drive to the nearest Walmart, gun down more people and eventually die in a shootout with police.

But Nehemiah called a friend first, who talked him into meeting at Calvary church, where Nehemiah’s father had been a pastor. It was apparently a Calvary church security officer who contacted 911 about the slayings at the Griego home late Saturday.

Nehemiah Griego is now in the Bernalillo County Juvenile Detention Center, charged with two open counts of murder and three counts of child abuse resulting in death.

The couple had 10 children, but only the three youngest and Nehemiah were at home during the shootings.

The sheriff’s office has identified the victims as Greg Griego, 51, a former pastor at Calvary Chapel, as well as at the Metropolitan Detention Center; his wife, Sarah Griego, 40, a stay-at-home mom who home schooled their children; Zephania Griego, 9; Jael Griego, 5; and Angelina Griego, 2.

True on all counts. Things are even worse now thanks to HIPAA. I am really curious just HOW mental heath information is going to be provided to law enforcement agencies when I as a husband (and the primary insured) cannot legally be told the result of my wife’s medical tests, or what drugs she has been prescribed, without her explicit written permission.

It was a step family. And the dad was out on a Saturday night (Sunday morning) past 1 am. Not good if you are going to get up for church the next day.............

“For some reason, Satan really wants the American people defanged, and the old deceiver is throwing everything he has at getting it done.”

Spot on. We are heading for a global economic collapse, which will most likely be the pretext for the rise of the Antichrist. Americans are the only civilian population with sufficient arms to offer real resistance, hence the increase in mass violence. Satan gets a two fold benefit, support for his agenda and more souls in Hell.

“HOW mental heath information is going to be provided to law enforcement”

bo fixed that in one of his 23 decrees.

HIPAA info can be shared for background checks.

what is pa doing having remarried, which is not biblical, and did the step mother break up the 15 year olds’ original family?

Too many unfounded accusations here! How do you know there was a break up of the original family? What makes you think that the father was divorced and then remarried? My brother-in-law lost his wife in a car accident. About 10 years later he remarried and now has a wonderful family. Are you saying that is not biblical?

Now there's the rub. HIPAA specifically constrains law enforcement access. It specifies that medical information may ONLY be obtained with a valid SW/court order.

Zero DID legislate from the podium, then.

I guess i don’t have any evidence - except that the family appeared to be doing a lot of the right things - church, attention, conservative values

however, it is pretty obvious something wasn’t done correctly....very sad that the result is a bunch of dead children and parents.

That's not really a fair assumption, is it? For all we know he could have been working a second job delivering pizza's or something so he could afford to have his wife home with the kids.

The Fatheer was the Chaplain for the fire dept, so very well could have been on a call with the Fire Dept. Please get the facts before being so judgemental.

“But Nehemiah called a friend first, who talked him into meeting at Calvary church,”

Wow, that is amazing. A quiet hero. God bless that friend.

Tomguy: As I posted in an earlier thread, this was a crime of rage. And, if it is true that the 3 children were not shot to death, that would surely mess up the Lib/Left/Dem/MSM agenda.

All five were shot in the head.

Persevero: Wow, that is amazing. A quiet hero. God bless that friend.

It was his girlfriend after he texted her a picture of his dead mother. She convinced him to meet her at Calvary Chapel after the killings where her grandmother and other staff summoned a security guard who called 911.
