A 15-year-old was arrested Sunday for killing a family just outside of Albuquerque, New Mexico Saturday evening using the weapon that's dominated much of the gun control conversation -- the AR-15 semi-automatic rifle.
An unidentified 15-year-old was arrested and charged for killing all five people. Several weapons were found inside the house, including a military style assault rifle.

Back in the mid 1990s our local TV news reported on a man arrested with “AN AS-S-S-AULT RIFLE!”
He may have commited a “crime with the AS-S-S-S-AULT RIFLE!”
The firearm “They found was an AS-S-S-S-AULT RIFLE!”
Finally they showed the “AS-S-S-AULT RIFLE!”
It was a WWII vintage M1 carbine.
I have exactly three weapons and all are loaded with chambered rounds protected only by the safety switch that is on all guns I have ever owned.
I have no intention of being a victim with a gun locked safely away in a gun safe.

And if you are not home? Someone breaks into your house when your wife is home alone and she can’t defend herself because you have your guns locked up and the key to the safe is with you? Love your wife much?
You left out the American flag hanging in the house indicates patriotic and the kid wears cammo and is clean cut so there's your wingnut evil right wing conservative.
Anyone know what the NM law says about the cut off age for trying him as an adult? Since he's only 15, he might only get sent to juvenile detention until he's 18 and is set free.

I remember a story of two deputies killed in a jail break in Lincoln. The perp was later killed in Ft Sumner. It was claimed he had killed 21 men, not counting Indians and Mexicans.
I also have several files of other killers in the state.
At least he won’t go through life labeled a terrorist for using a bubble gun.

Do you have children? I don’t know what three guns you have but if one is say, a Glock, that little trigger safety ain’t much between a kid’s finger and tragedy.
I didn’t say I couldn’t get to what I needed, I said they were locked up. The GunVault by my bed is opened on three fingers.. loaded 1911 ready to go. I’ve got a lot more than 3 guns...there is no need, yet, to have them all ready to go SWAT on somebody..

Are you saying a 15 yr old couldn’t figure out how to open a gun safe? Where did you come up with “dozens of guns all fully loaded and ready to fire”? Will you next be telling us you support the 2nd Amendment BUT.....?
The topic here is a deranged kid who murdered his family, probably after seeing countless stories about mass murderers and “assault weapons”.
Glad to hear your wife has her own gun. Your original comment implied she was left unarmed, and the only arms she could get were locked up and you had the only key, and you were not around.
I am in my 60s, and I know and have known a hell of a lot of multiple-gun owners, and not a one of them has “’em all fully loaded and chambered....” That sounds like a comment a lefty gun-grabber would dream up in order to advance an agenda. I trust you are not one of those.
Like my father before me, I taught my children how t use weapons. No I don’t have a glock. I have my bedside handgun a semiauto rifle and a 12 gauge pump. You watch your kids and I will watch mine.
I still have an old single shot 22 that my great grandmother bought in Virginia after the Uncivil War, for 25 Cents. As far as I know no one in my family ever shot anyone outside of war.

It would be easier to avoid being struck by lightning than to avoid being killed by someone like this. Unless you saw him coming and knew his intentions he’d kill ya. No law prevents these acts.
