**I eagerly await news that the New York Times has gone bankrupt and has ceased publication.**

They’ll get a “too important for the Public Good to fail” bailout before that ever happens.

NY Times isn’t ever going anywhere, and they just get more powerful by the day. Look at how they influenced CJOTUS Roberts.

The projects occupy what looks like a re-created living room, where a colorful mix of young entrepreneurs, gray-haired journalists and bands with names like the Street Dogs and Animal Kingdom pass through.

So they're trying to pretend they're 'cool' and relevant?

If the Globe had competed for the respect and trust of their readers ( ALL their readers NOT just the liberals ) instead of competing for 'prizes' they might not be in this spot...

All the school killers have been democrats or kids of democrats... that's why we don't hear much about their politics... But if there's ever a conservative killer we'll hear about it.

Almost every mass killing by an adult gets the press 'wondering' if it was done by a right winger... until the guy's caught. And it's the same old same old. We've been blessed they've caught all these killers - one time we won't be that lucky.

Personally, I'd prefer to see the New York Times go the same route as Pravda — being bought by nationalist patriots and becoming something useful.

The paper has a good history. There was a day that the New York Times was run by conservative Presbyterians who would today by on the far right wing of the political and religious spectrum of American society. The paper established its reputation for investigative journalism by attacking and exposing the (then illegal) abortion industry in New York City in the late 1800s and early 1900s. More recently, it's been a family-owned operation by a prominent Jewish family who were among the people who successfully integrated the New York Jewish community into the city's mainstream of educated society, although during the days of anti-Jewish prejudice, the family was careful to avoid the paper being seen as a "Jewish newspaper," but rather was an example of how a minority group could succeed and own a major pillar of New York society.

The New York Times, unlike most media corporations, is family owned. That means they have a degree of flexibility that typical corporations do not, and personal pride of ownership sometimes trumps logic and economics. When/if the newspaper goes bankrupt or approaches bankruptcy, I hope someone on the conservative side of the political spectrum makes the Sulzberger family an offer they cannot refuse.

The Sulzberger family being what it is, that may mean a coalition of Conservative and Orthodox Jewish businessmen with deep roots in New York society who convince the Sulzbergers that it is in their best interest to sell to someone before the banks take the paper over.

That could end up being a good thing.

You're assuming they already didn't... funny how many mass shootings are happening all of a sudden.

Yes, I see your point. I was in the military for 20 years myself. I just wonder, when the crap hits the fan, which side will the military be on?

They don’t need to wait for one to be a conservative. They are using the current ones to run roughshod over the second, and first, amendments.
