Smith & Wesson will not attend or support or participate in the 2013 Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show in Harrisburg, Pa. in response to organizers banning the display and sell of tactical-looking firearms often called assault rifles from the show.
Smith & Wesson manufacturers a successful line of what it and the industry calls modern sporting rifles under the M&P brand name.

In a news release, James Debney, president and CEO of Smith & Wesson, said: As a market leader in the firearm industry and an iconic brand that spans 160 years of American history, we believe it is important to make our position perfectly clear: We support the Second Amendment and the rights of our law-abiding customers to purchase these and all legal firearms. Therefore, we are unable to support any organization or event that prohibits legal firearms, or otherwise restricts a citizens lawful and constitutional rights.

I’d love to know the name of the idiot functionary at ESOS that made this bonebeaded call. I’ll bet there’s a lot of ‘splainin’ to do.
The only problem with that is that the NRA refuses to pull out of the show.
We’re leaving the northeast in about 3-4 years. Heading to Texas. We’ve been all over and Texas is as good as it gets.
“Didnt Ruger pull out as well? Yessss!”
And Cabela’s!
I am surprised more citizens do not do state constitutional amendments to abolish their state income tax. (to be like texas in that regard)
Just why the hell a "for profit" group would hire a progressive feel-good idiot is beyond me. Perhaps the whole organization is of the ilk. Reality is a harsh mistress. Fiscal conservatism is a job requirement in my business. Hope these morons enjoy their Facebook 'likes.'
you always leave a mole behind.
the NRA only sells protection of civil rights.
this will be an opportunity to add new recruits.
there is a reason it is called eurotrash.
look at piers morgan, the ultimate in eurotrash, the uk does not want him back.
Stick out like sore thumb.
Each company made difficult decision about what’s best for their own company.
Reminds me of the scene in John Adams movie when all 13 states individually chose to be United.
To back that thought up... S&W is doing just fine these days, thank you :o)
Got to admit Greg Abbott rocks!
Down the mountain into town at the local gun shop this morning, the regulars were talking about this show and people pulling out and the comment was made that the NRA had decided not to attend after all. Was that incorrect? Are they going to be there?
Even Texas is backsliding. Too many liberals moving here and the damned illegal alien criminals openly barging in.
It is like watching an old friend slip away.
Abbott may be your next governor.
Unless Eaker beats him to the punch.
I just found this NRA press release. They WILL boycott.
Thanks. It will be interesting to see the final count on just how many vendors go along with the boycott.
No, I thought about running but people pointed out that humblegunner and I are friends.
Really sunk what little chance I might have had.
I think the NRA’s pulled out now.
