A FEW years ago, I awoke at 2:30 a.m. to more than a rapping, rapping at my chamber door. It was a full-force pounding of a body trying to break into my little house in Washington, D.C. It was the sound and scenario that, as a single woman living alone, I feared more than spiders in the house.
....I considered buying a gun. The threat of violence rattles you like that. What rolled round my head after that dark morning was: what if I hadnt heard the noise, what if its different next time? While I held that chair with all of my strength, I wished that I had had a gun because if he had gotten in, then I could have pointed it at him, maybe deterred him and if necessary pulled the trigger....
...
[Then] I remembered who I am.
I am one of the millions of people in this country who live with depression. I knew that in the gun registration form there would be a version of this question: Have you ever voluntarily or involuntarily been committed to a hospital? The answer is yes voluntarily. But because my hospitalization was years earlier and I wasnt in treatment at the time, I could have gotten a gun.

There are approximately 4 million homosexual men in the country. 75% of new HIV infections are transmitted by men having sex with men. There are around 50,000 people newly infected by HIV every year. Around 17,000 people die of AIDS every year.
The NYT will never publish an opinion piece by a man saying "Please take away my right to have sex with other men."
They are this intellectually bankrupt on the left, and the Republicans as an institution are beaten by them on a regular basis.
This is a scam. The GOP is not trying to win. Quislings.
I’m an alcoholic. For me, to pick up another drink is to die. I also suffer from depression, a drink sounds real good sometimes. Please, Mr. President, bring back Prohibition. NOT!!!
to the point of the article, my dad was bipolar, but owned several firearms and carried a firearm whenever his work called him into late hours or sketchy places.
As far as I know, he never drew his firearm on anyone but recalled instances where it was good to know it was in reach.
The thousands of soldiers and police officers that suffer from even an indication of PTSD will be relieved of their rights if Obama gets his way.
The mental health clause will also trip a switch when a person admits to attending AA or NA or even marriage counseling.
That direct point must be made.
She better hope that they ban rope, tall buildings and sedatives.
Having been born and raised with firearms, and living through three, (that come to mind quickly) incidents in which firearms saved lives, both perps and victoms. I just can't go with the storyline.
Democrats should not be allowed to own guns. They are not mentally stable.
Satire.
Kind of.

What is even more scary is the response letters. NOBODY is ordering you to obtain a firearm. If you know you have these issues, don’t get one. The fact that she freely admits she used to work for john edwards says a lot about her sanity anyway. Gotta love them radical left wing extremists threatening to violate our rights. Best analogy I read was that lots of people eat peanuts. Some people can’t eat peanuts ergo, ban all peanuts. Absurd to say the least. But is the RLWE view of what needs to be done.
Molon labe.
Wendy dear, grow up. Don't ask Big Brother to protect you from yourself ... and in the process take away my God-given right to life and right to defend myself, in the event I am ever declared "depressed" (and under Obama, we are ALL in a temporary state of depression).
I can’t swim. Ban pools.
I can’t fly, ban airplanes.
I can’t eat peanuts, ban restaurants.
I can’t take some medicines, ban pharmacies.
Parilitas supremus. Salus primoris.
I wish and hope that next time he does get in and that she doesn't have a gun. With any luck, he'll take away her right to speak, her right to breath, her right to be a dumb c***. Stupid b****.
Having been a prosecutor/criminal defense attorney for many years, I have on occasion been called to act in murder cases. Nine of them, in fact. Of the nine cases, only two were known to be be committed by guns (and one we’re not sure about since the victim’s body was never found).
Most were committed by knives. I think they should ban knives.
One was committed by a demolition tool. They should ban demolition tools.
This is f*cking joke, right?
Seriously?
Please prevent me from killing someone to save my own life?
I’m a depressed idiot and I feel that the laws for everyone else should be based on my level of competence?
Jeez.
She already has the ability to have her second amendment rights taken away. Just don’t buy a gun. But that’s never good enough for the left. They have to make sure everyone else’s second amendment rights are taken away.
I can see where this is going...having a gun or even desiring to have one will be declared a mental illness giving the government the right to take guns away to protect society.
I’m waiting on “The Population Growth is Unsustainable Please Euthanize Me for Mother Earth” article.
