Your point about car ownership and use is especially well taken. There are times I’ve been so tired while driving that I’ve pulled off the road in a safe place and done some emergency sleeping. Whenever I do that, I’m careful to remove the keys from the ignition just so I don’t accidentially start the car before I’m fully awake and get into an accident. That accident wouldn’t be the car’s fault; it would be mine for driving when I shouldn’t. If somebody has depression and fears what he or she might do at the bottom of the blues, then the adult thing to do is look at the balance of risks, and not keep a gun if the balance is in favor of the depression being more of a risk than a potential home invader. Sad to say, but all of life is choices and balances of risks. Those choices are individiuals’ to make, not for the govenment to make for them.

I knew that in the gun registration form there would be a version of this question: Have you ever voluntarily or involuntarily been committed to a hospital?

How does Ms. Button KNOW this? Has she bothered to download and read an LTC application?

No such question exists on the MA application. Though, there is this:

Have you ever been confined to any hospital or institution for mental illness?

Now, she says she voluntarily entered a hospital for depression. Not the same thing as she was free to leave which suggests she was not confined. Plus, I do not think depression is classified as a mental illness. (Though Liberalism should be.)

So, she is wrong. No such question as yet exists on an application. She didn't bother to check before writing yet ANOTHER hit piece on gun owners.

As I read this I pondered... who on earth could read something like this and not laugh at the audacity of someone who would write something so outlandish and expect it to be taken seriously. I mean, I thought it was something form The Onion or Scrappleface.

She might be willing to make herself into a pathetic and weak victim but I refuse to go down like a sheep. I would not be able to live with myself if my family was left at the mercy of violent scum because I didn’t have the means to protect them. I can’t even imagine what that Cheshire CT doctor had to deal with after listening to his wife and daughters getting raped and then burned alive. There can’t be anything worse then what he lived through.
