Senator Rand Paul thumped Secretary of State nominee John Kerry today at his hearing before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee today. Right out of the blocks, Senator Paul stumped Genghis John with a question on the War Powers Clause of the US Constitution,

“I believe in candidate Barack Obama who said in 2007 that the president doesn’t have the power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack. I’d like to know if you agree with me candidate Barack Obama or if you agree with President Barack Obama who took us to war in Libya without Congressional authority unilaterally?”

Rand Paul then went to bust Kerry for double-standard on Libya and Cambodia.

I am liking Rand more and more each day. I have heard conflicting stories on his stance on immigration, but I honestly don’t care that much. At least he has the balls to stand up to the rats. Others in DC might be all there, but are quiet. This guy is a fighter, and I like that.

He's definitely got better material on Kerry than he did on Clinton.

He's letting his questions hang Kerry rather than giving his own Speeches. That is the way to do it.

Everyone knows the candidate is never going to be the same as the elected official.

Kerry: I was against it before I was for it.

Obviously, he’ll have to do some tap dancing to get elected... that’s life of politics, but would you rather trust Rand Paul’s instincts in office who tap dances around a few things to get some middle votes even though his record is solid or, say, someone like Mitt Romney who has changed all of his positions over a career at least once and has a record of a moderate at best? They all lie, but I believe in his heart, Paul is a libertarian leaning conservative. Even if he has more of his dad in him than he leads on, at the very least, he will stand up for individual rights, low taxes, and moderate spending. He probably leans a little left on foreign policy and more left than he leads on with social issues, but I don’t see him working to take any of my rights away.

The traitor sailed through his confirmation and will replace the liar.

Rand Paul should know by now that, Obama will say anything to get elected or re-elected, but, will do something entirely different when in office. It’s about telling the people what they want to hear, then doing something quite different once elected. With democrats, it’s okay to lie, because, at the end of the day, it’s for the common good. Besides, most of the people are too ignorant to understand the issues, therefore, democrats are able to get away with all their lies and hypocrisy.

Why should Kerry care when the rest of the Senate and House apparently do not? They have collectively let the last several presidents involve us in wars and military actions with barely a peep.

Of course he knows that. So what? Just because you know someone is a liar doesn’t mean you cant call them out on it.

This entire dog and pony show to confirm the traitor Kerry is a disgrace. No republican will have the common decency to ask him about lying during the 1971 Winter Soldier hearings and about collaborating with the enemy in time of war. I am through with the republican party. In the words of George Wallace there ain’t a nickles worth of difference in the two parties anymore. Kerry should be arrested and held for treason against the United States. Instead he’s about to be rubber-stamped as Sec of State. Where are the Swift Boats vets when you need them?

I want to her Col George Day tell Kerry he’s a traitor and was responsible for more torture against POWs and responsible for the POWs being held for two more long years. I also want to see the expression on Senator John McTraitor’s face when POWs with honor are telling the truth about Jane Fonda Kerry.

Sadly there are but a few, less than a handful, of R’s, who are even remotely fit and capable of being seen participating in these congressional hearings and senate committee discussions.

It is clear to me that our man-on-the-street type representatives, good men and women, are outgunned, swept over entirely by a grand strategy coming out of the White House. Democrat representatives are even worse, serving only as brainless voice boxes for Reid, before they carry the vote, as the majority they most certainly are, in the senate.

After the deplorable showing of the R’s questioning Hillary, I don’t think we have a prayer of even keeping the House. Five hours of theater produced a solid victory for Hillary, who manhandled us and on live TV, stuffed her expert deflection down our throats.

Yes, in five hours, Rohrabacher and Johnson got off a few pertinent one liners, but the whole affair was sabotaged by the clock and the format, where unpracticed rookies were let loose to run out the clock, given the same weight as the experienced Rorhsbacher and Johnson.

It’s demoralizing and our time is short to develop competence.

Why is it that the GOPE are arming only Rand and Rubio? Are we being set up again for divide and conquer? Are there no debate strategies and in depth preparation for public platforms on purpose? How unprofessional. To be seen by the world endlessly flailing is shameful.

Disarray is our name now, but it’s all so inexcusable. There IS no plan.

I agree, but I think people get a completely different perspective on the office they are running for, after they actually get elected to that office.

Sure, but not all of it is political. Certain realities come into place. Perhaps there are operational reasons that you can’t do what you said you would. You get in office and you have your cabinet secretaries and all the top level GSs that you are wrong. For instance, Obama would have loved nothing more than to shut down Gitmo, but hasn’t because he can’t. It isn’t because he has drifted to the right or that he was necessarily lying with the promise, it is because there are unforeseen realities. It is easy to campaign in black and white, but it isn’t always reality. It is easy to enact a law, but you can’t always change the way a federal department, with its hundreds of thousands of employees and contractors, operates its critical missions for political convenience.

I would just as fervently like to hear Day tell the complete truth about how McCain acted while a POW.

“I would just as fervently like to hear Day tell the complete truth about how McCain acted while a POW”.

That would be great too. But don’t except to ever hear that. The POWs have an unwritten rule to never rat on each other. But he knows McCain was a weasel. I’ve heard the North Vietnamese called McCain the “Songbird” because he told them anything they wanted to hear.

I never said Rand Paul couldn’t call Obama out for being a liar. In fact, I encourage it, and I’ll call Obama a liar every time he opens up his mouth and every time he acts.
