What’s Spanish for “bilge pumps”?

In this case, the Spanish term for "bilge pumps" is dinero.

Argentina's run out of other people's dinero and can't print more fast enough to take care of things like battleship maintenance.

Thanks, we must all remember that these Latino states are run by Mobocracies. It's off with their heads if the water bill's too high. We must prevent our Mobsters from completing their conquest of the USA. These mobocracies are run just like the French Revolution with ethnic cleansing, gang rapes and pervesion of the courts and laws of the land.

We are about to enter this unhappy zone in the Regime's second term. God help us all

Weren’t the Argies rattling sabers recently over the Falkland Islands again?

Yes, they were. Apparently the battle plan would have been to make the British feel guilty over making them sail in such obsolete ships. They were going to drown them in their own tears.

The British man-gurl sailor who lost his IPod to the Iranians is already sobbing at the thought...

British readers shouldn't take offense at this. We're right behind you mates, and if you're near our army, that's a threat. Don't drop the soap...

I wonder if it was given an assist. That is, a mothballed ship can be refitted in a lot less time and for much less money than building a ship from scratch. And if somebody in the MOD calculated that they would have to use this ship if they wanted to get aggressive at the Falklands again...

...Well, ship happens.

ARA Santísima Trinidad had command and control of air defence for Task Force 79.1 (the Aircraft Carrier group) - which was the main offensive force at the beginnining of May.

Makes sense. The Argentiians hoped to attack the British fleet from two directions. The Belgrano and its accompanying destroyers (all armed with Exocet missiles in addition to the Belgrano’s 15 6” guns) were the southern “pincer”.

What's the big deal about leading a war against English sinks? Big whoop.

The loss of a mothballed ship should not be cause for alarm or shame.

There is no mention here of the existing fit for battle navy

Having any warship sunk and on it’s side is very bad visual to have when you are trying to stir up your country for war.

Doubly so when it reminds people you lost the ship that was the real leader of the last failed war.

If this was a British op, someone deserves a medal at the very least. Taking the mickey out of an enemy and preventing a shootin’ war without the loss of a single life?

Nicely played!

Point conceded.

But will you meet me half way and acknowledge that the ‘optics’ are different when it looks like utter incompetence on your side vs. looking like an act of war on their part?
