I found this interesting, with all of the "who will fire upon American citizens" discussion the past few days. In the video you will see Little Bird helicopters firing blanks as the perform a simulated strafing run on an interstate in downtown Miami.

From the report, the public wasn’t notified. I’m surprised the “firing” helicopters didn’t take a couple of live rounds from a concerned public. People should be outraged at this ... But alas, just curious. That no one is LOUDLY questioning this or running to the streets to protest is even more frightening...is the whole country asleep or just busy watching the Pro Bowl and American Idol?

And what’s to stop somebody (or a lot of somebodys) in those skyscrapers from blasting those helicopters out of the sky? You can make a rocket launcher out of a PVC pipe. The insurgents in the Middle East do it all the time.

I'm honestly surprised they didn't experience return fire, given that it's Miami.

When I was an aerospace engineer in LA, I took the company chopper to visit other company divisions.

Chatting with the pilot, I found out that the choppers had kevlar armor installed.

When I asked why, the pilot said, “We get bullet holes all the time when we fly over South Central”.
