Some Mossad agents carry .22’s. With practice, a .22 can definitely incapacitate or kill. Personally, a M9 or M1911 are better options.
Every freedom loving home in America should have at least one firearm chambered in .22 caliber.
Back before 1970, most murders were committed with the .22 LR.
He probably punctured the external iliac artery in the hip. That’s a pretty rapid bleed out.
OK.
I'm going to use that one if I ever find myself in a similar situation.
"Well, officer, I shot the burglar twice in the @$$ to help aid you in identifying the perp."
Williams fired two rounds that impacted the vehicles trunk in an effort to aid police in identifying the vehicle.

I think 22s are underrated. My reason is that you can fire 10,000 rounds of 22 ammo without going broke, and there are few substitutes for total confidence that you will hit what you want to hit.
Something like the S&W 317 is pretty tempting, although I’ll have to wait until production can satisfy demand...light, not too big, 8 shots, reliable, and you can ‘test it out’ by shooting a few thousands rounds to see if you’re confident!
The Ruger LCR is another possibility, but I think I like the 317 better for looks and function.
A pistol is what you use if you have to fight your way to your rifle.
The leg? The hip?
Wow. I would be aiming at the head, face, and throat and pulling the trigger fast.
I'll bet that fatal hip shot was deflected up into the perp's abdomen, as .22 slugs are often found to do. It might not be a fight-stopper, but at close range there's enough energy in that 40-gr. projectile to make a real mess.
Looking at getting a Walther P22 for packing under the seat in my car, I travel quite a bit.
Any comments?
“Williams roommate, 24-year-old Luis Ramos, ran out of his bedroom, armed with an electric guitar...”
“Axe” is a slang term for a guitar, maybe he got confused. At least he was trying and didn’t run out on his roomie.
Post a pic of your favorite .22!
The call to the Sheriff would be something like, "Reporting attempted theft of my tractor and other items from my shed. BOLO for a white pickup last seen heading west, with up to four flat tires, and with the sides and tailgate decorated with at least a dozen .22 caliber holes. Things here are secure, so I suggest you concentrate on apprehending the criminal trespassers in said vehicle first."
(BTW, has anyone ever tried to drive on four flat tires? It doesn't work. I found that out when punks in Phoenix slashed all four of the tires on my rental car. My first impression when it didn't move was, "Is the transmission blown?")
If, according to the report, he hit him in the leg, then twice in the hip, how did this kill him?
The best argument I’ve heard for using a .22 for defense came down to four points:
— Any gunshot wound is going to hurt like hell, so even a .22 “decoration” will make the perp quickly reconsider the error of his folly.
— Muzzle climb isn’t bad, so a .22 can be quickly brought back onto the target for a second or further shot. That can make a huge difference!
— Ammo is cheap, so you can afford lots of practice. For the cost of 50 rounds of something bigger, you can buy 500 rounds of .22LR.
— Most .22 handguns are pretty small, making them easily concealable.
