Chicago NPR station issues bizarre plea: 'Go make babies today
American Thinker ^ | 01/30/2013 | Thomas Lifson

Is the pro-abortion left beginning to have second thoughts? Could that be the impulse behind a campaign being conducted by Chicago NPR affiliate WBEZ?  Anne Sorock of Legal Insurrection highlights the curious appearance of this Facebook-based ad:

One of the principal features of life in the richest countries is the collapse of natality. Simply put, when people get rich, they tend to focus on themselves, and lose interest in having babies, which are expensive, and require a focus on something other than personal pleasure. The ready availability of contraception and abortion certainly keeps birthrates down, and the rising numbers of people

The left made a big mistake in not fighting for criminalization of homeschooling early on.

Of course, God had a hand in this blindspot of theirs.

It’s a bit too late right now, because short of tipping their hand and exposing their totalitarianism, they can’t prevent it at this point.

The HSLDA and Heritage Defense are well established and have experience and precedent behind them.

I’ve been telling people here on FR that if conservatives would just give the left what they want, good and hard, and crush their live childbirth numbers for 20 years... it would end them as a political force. Forever.

Conservatives should drive liberal women to abortion clinics with a smile on their lips, not preaching, not trying to get the liberal women to reconsider or have a care in the world.

We should offer free tubal ligation to women in abortion clinics, too.

The demographic collapse within the liberal cohort would be to the nation’s benefit.

Not really. When the number of new Dems gets low, they import more from third world holes.

Answer to question 1.
From what I have read, yes, most of the time.

Answer to question 2.
Yes, socially, and no, when it comes time to vote for more largess.

RE: Yes, socially, and no, when it comes time to vote for more largess.

So with these two values ( i.e. social vs. more government largess) in tension, which is more important by and large, and how do they generally vote?

Democrats are BOTH social and fiscal liberals. One has to choose which is more important.

You also have to keep in mind that children, besides attending home schools, are also attending charter, parochial and private ones. From the last I have read the percentage of children who are being home schooled is around four or five percent.

As the government schools continue to slide into the abyss of destruction a greater desire for other choices will increase and be created and utilized.

yeah, even leftists are looking at homeschooling because of the absolute abysmal failure of public schools.

Their kids are supposed to be educated to be the “ruling class”, so they’re really disappointed that they’re being dumbed down with the “masses”.

The left will never run out of children a long as we continue sending kids to public (government) schools. In the leftist worldview, our kids are their kids.

It remains to be seen how my younger two kids will turn out, but it's looking good so far.

I agree about the HSLDA and Heritage Defense. My wife gets HSLDA e-mail updates on a regular basis.

We had the funds to do it when we only had one child, and we bought the “lifer” HSLDA at the time.

Recently joined Heritage Defense as well.

Their trouble is that progressivism is inherently anti-baby.

Importantly, when a country hits an economic plateau unique to them, their population growth drops from 6-8 per family to just maintenance, at 2.1 to 2.3 children per family.

And there it would stay, *except* that government and culture, while they cannot easily raise that rate, they can easily lower it. They do it by adding requirements and rules to parenthood. For every new rule, people decide to have less children.

The requirements and rules can seem good, or at least benign, but they aren’t. They include the minimal prosperity and materialism of their parents, and how thy “provide” for their children. These add up.

Other things include making contraception and abortion easy to get, and permissiveness to infidelity and adultery.

It’s funny how they continually shoot themselves in the foot with collectivizing the education system and everything else. All they can show for it are dead bodies, dead economies, war, starvation, poverty, ignorance, etc., etc.

That’s already being handled. More and more people who are middle-of-the-road are homeschooling. Charter school measures are winning.

The public education system and the idiot indoctrination camps we used to call universities are collapsing under their own fiscal mis-management. It’s the next bubble to collapse - you can see it coming in student debt numbers. About 25% of student loans aren’t being serviced (ie, paid, made good) by their borrowers.

Education can be turned around, once sane voters gain control at the polls.
