The conference is scheduled to be held March 18-19 at San Juan College.

The Farmington Daily Times (http://bit.ly/WJ1E3Q ) reports that local officials hope the Mancos Shale, a geologic layer of the San Juan Basin, will be the next big play in oil shale.

Companies are exploring the Mancos Shale, and the Times reports that its potential for production is unclear.

The basin's emphasis has been on natural gas production.

I used to have friends in the area. When I would come over to their place (I lived 300 miles away) and stay for a day or two, they would always say, “Remember, don’t smoke in the shower.” They were kidding, but only slightly.

Good thing Bill Richardson isn’t still governor. He’d order the state police to shut this thing down.

Best time of my life as a child was there! Loved it, still go back every chance I get! I still consider it my real “home”.

Unfortunately my worthless brother-in-law (If you know him he probably owes you money) still lives there so I keep a 1000 mile distance between us.

Yeah, I spent some time in Farmington.

Loved the place, the people and the surrounding area.

Loved the mole at Margarita Restaurant.

Panned and found some gold in the Animas River.
