WNEW CBS DC ^ | 01-31-2013 | WNEW CBS DC

Posted on 01/31/2013 11:13:12 AM PST by AZ .44 MAG

The bill co-sponsored by state Sen. Don Shooter, four other senators and several members of the House of Representatives would bar enforcement of new federal laws affecting semi-automatic firearms or high-capacity magazines. It also makes any federal official trying to enforce such laws guilty of a felony and allows the state Attorney General to defend anyone prosecuted for violating federal gun laws if the gun was made in Arizona, among other provisions.

Good news from AZ. It's not law yet but I think it has a very good chance to pass.

I particularly like that the name of one sponsor is Don Shooter.

This is very good, since it was the federal government that said a state, in this case, AZ, could NOT enforce immigration laws, since it's a federal law, why should Arizona enforce ANY federal law or regulation?

I don’t even know who my Arizona reps are because normally they are not part of the problem. I shall have to find out who they are now that they are part of the solution!

Why is it just limited to new gun laws?

Agreed.

The 10th Amendment may be the only way to rein in Fedzilla.

I like the way they think in AZ, it kind of reminds me of TX, but not as big.

The Colorado GOP are sending gun bill after gun bill as a tactic painting the Dems as ant-2nd Amendment. And we see the CO Dems anti-2nd amendment bills have not even made it to committee.

Colorado GOP bill would nullify possible federal gun limits

Yes, I think this is the way to go that would be the only route to success.

As individuals, what are we going to do?
We can’t resist federal law effectively,
but a state can declare a non-enforcement zone,
further, they can threaten action against any attempts to enforce,
and if push comes to shove, the people of the state(s) will rally behind the state gov’t and law enforcement against the feds.

Moreover, to my previous post:

Colorado [Dems in] legislature kills one gun bill; two more introduced

It goes beyond just not not enforcing Federal laws.

From the article:

"It also makes any federal official trying to enforce such laws guilty of a felony and allows the state Attorney General to defend anyone prosecuted for violating federal gun laws if the gun was made in Arizona, among other provisions."

I would have loved to have been there to see all the wailing and gnashing of teeth when this was passed. Especially since it was passed after Saint Gabby spoke in DC. When they passed constitutional carry not long after she was shot all the Dems were crying and saying “How could you”. Very easy in AZ appearently, and we are about to do it again.

And we see the CO Dems anti-2nd amendment bills have not even made it to committee.

That is really good news. We also have quite a few CO sheriffs who have made statements that they would not enforce un-Constitutional Federal gun laws.

“It looks as though my LC9 is covered.”

There are a few others in AZ besides Ruger. Offhand the only one I can think of is American Spirit Arms. http://americanspiritarms.com/

I’d like to hear about any others FReepers may know about.

I bet real folding money that if this manages to pass both houses, Brewer’s going to veto it. She’s not pandering to conservatives anymore. The good stuff stopped the instant she sewed up her nomination last time, and she may not run again so screw us.

Of course the courts got ahold of it and we won't know until the Obamacare-upholding SCOTUS hears it whether it will stand or not.

The Supreme Court agreed on Monday to consider whether Arizona can demand that voters show proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote in federal elections

Our Sheriff gets it right on quite a few things.

This is one of them— http://www.sheriffpaul.com/letter-to-president-obama/

Unfortunately he’s not real clear on how male and female parts are designed to use together.
