Michigan: Detroit Closing 50 Parks
Detroit will close nearly half of its parks and will reduce maintenance and services at dozens of others after the City Council passed on a deal that would have had the state operate the citys Belle Isle park, Mayor Dave Bing said on Friday. Closing 50 of 107 parks will allow the city to keep running Belle Isle, a 985-acre park in the Detroit River, after the Council declined to vote on Gov. Rick Snyders proposal. Mr. Snyders offer called for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources to run Belle Isle as a state park, but for the city to retain ownership. The state would have taken on the $6.2 million annual operating costs.

They are slum lords.
Wouldn’t it be more efficient to simply close the city and let it all be run by Wayne County?
Detroit has parks?
I’d say we dodged a bullet on that one. $6 million to Detroit for leasing Belle Isle? What would we have gotten for it? Thank God!
Probably for the best...more than likely a visitor would be a victim of a violent crime in those parks.
It is AMAZING what a city will do in order to avoid real cuts to insane public union pay/benefits/pensions...
To the point that ALL city tax revenues will go to the public unions with NOTHING for the citizens.
But the voters will still keep voting democrat.
Where else you gonna meet your dealer at ?
Can anyone name a major city that is run by democrats that isn't a sink hole?
No need to travel to Somalia or Kenya to see where we are headed under our black overlords.
Just look at some photos of Detroit, Oakland, Newark, etc.
But....where will the gang bangers try to bury their dead?
Everyone who voted agains O’bumhole should BOYCOTT everything for 1 week at some designated time.
Go totally GALT for seven days to whatever extent possible.
Even NYC would notice that...
MOTOWN has become LESSTOWN.
What? Muslims don’t use parks?
