Not a false comparison in the slightest. I was also quite entertained by the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th.
The person that commits these acts bears sole responsibility for them. Mommies that didn’t hug them enough or violence in TV is not a crutch or substitute for responsibility.

Case in point: 60 years ago, who would have ever thought it was OK, much less a right - to murder an unborn infant - a CHILD?? Yet we got Roe v Wade in the 1970s. And somehow, magically, after a few decades, its now accepted practice. When theres a vacuum where a soul should be, be sure there will be something to fill that vacuum. And never be surprised at what that new occupant can and will do...it usually produces pretty horrific results.
Excellent post.

Well, it's good to know that you had the presence of mind and strength of will to resist those negative influences. Me too. Unfortunately, decades of observation lead me to the conclusion that a good chunk of the populace is negatively effected to some extent or another. Simply calling for such qualities does not immediately ensure their existence.
Your unneeded slight against good, solid family influences incorrectly dismisses the value of that foundation of human civilization against such influences, and thereby misses another very large factor present today, and that is lack of same. This weakens your arguments.
One last thing -- in older days, splatter films were something that technology didn't bring into every household at the press of a button. You had to actively seek it. Nowadays, it finds you. As a parent, I can say with authority that's not good for kids.

You sound like a liberal, wishing to lay responsibility for one’s actions upon external forces. Are you sure you didn’t misclick the democraticunderground.com by mistake?

“The guy that saw the Batman movie before killing indicates that movies DO influence behavior.”
I agree. After seeing “John Carter” I wanted to kill the director.

If I sound like a liberal, then your hearing needs to be checked. You want sounding like a liberal, how about smarting off to people you don't even know?
Grow up, and stow the insults, chum. I will waste no more time with you.

It’s a known fact that Willis is on our side.
Big stars with proven $$$$$ making ability have nothing to worry about.
It’s the the minor actors who would have to worry about being blacklisted.

Well, when you learn a bit more about taking responsibility for one’s own actions, do give me a buzz.

Speaking of buzz -- buzz off, punk. I've forgotten more about personal responsibility than you'll ever learn.
Now go ahead -- post one more time so you can think you've won the debate.
