After a long and chilly four years, Barack Obama hopes to reset his relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when he makes his first trip to Israel as president this spring.
Obama wont be carrying any big new Mideast peace plans when he embarks on the trip, which will also include a stop in the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories, officials say. But repairing the relationship with Netanyahu, a key ally with whom Obama has often been at odds, could itself be a crucial step toward reopening a pathway to peace in the region.
Despite the deep ties between the U.S. and Israel, traveling to Jerusalem is always a tricky prospect for American presidents, given that their visits often raise expectations for U.S.-brokered peace deals. Only four U.S. presidents have visited Israel since the country was formed: Richard Nixon, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, who visited twice in the final year of his presidency.

Netanyahu ought to reset Obama...back onto Air Force One for the trip back home.

What Israel occupied territories ?
I hope Bibi leaves this ass clown we have as a potus sitting waiting while he goes to eat dinner...
Of course he has far too much class to do that...
After what 0bama's done in Egypt, helping to overthrow Mubarak and FUNDING MORSI'S RISE TO POWER, If I were Netanyahu I'D NEVER SPEAK TO 0BAMA AGAIN.
Only 0bama would have the gall to stick a knife in Netanyahu's back then pretend to 'mend chilly relations'. What a POS. This is all FOR SHOW by 0bama and that's it.
I mean, may as well be consistent, right?
It would be hilarious if Ubama got blown up by the PLO while visiting Israel.
Notice the partisan spin in this one, source is AP.
Thanks Olog-hai.
If they don't appreciate it, well then they MUST be racist!
Not in a million years. He is seeking to do to Netanyahu the exact same thing he does to all of his enemies. Pretends to act nice in public; explain to the whole world how reasonable his position is (despite the fact that behind the scenes he is being the complete opposite of reasonable); and then blame the other side when things don't go his way. That is his M.O. And this article is just establishing the predicate for it.
Look at the way the article blames Netanyahu (and secondarily the Palestinians) for the breakdown in peace talks in 2011, while explaining that "Obama sought to restart peace talks in 2011."
Same thing now: ...the White House is emphasizing that the president's focus will be brokering a new beginning with his Israeli counterpart....But U.S. officials caution that no breakthroughs are expected to emerge during the president's trip and reviving the peace process in the near term is not seen as realistic by the Obama administration.
So once again, Saint Obama is trying to bring peace to the universe while Bibi the Bad will screw things up.
These guys never do anything original, and yet the people (especially the press) fall for it every single time.
Don’t bend over with your back to Obama.
How do you suppose to change or reset .... Obama an a$$hole before .... reset, Obama an a$$hole now?
I wish that Bibi would publicly chew 0dumb0sh_t up one side & down the other, with verbal ferocity & superior historical perspective. The skinny Kenyan imposter doesn’t hold a candle to Bibi, and everyone knows it. I like Bibi a lot, but he has got to stop being so velvety soft & nice to 0dumb0sh_t. Now is the time to put some verbal hurt & insults onto 0dumb0!
If that should happen and he recovers from a head wound, it would remove all doubt about who he is.
Like there’s any doubt now? :)
Not in my mind anyway.
Shaking hands with obama might not be a good idea. He gets past security and could get away with murder. I wouldn’t put it past obama to leave a little undetectable poison behind.
