Iran has unveiled a new home-made combat aircraft, which officials say can evade radar.
The single-seat Qaher F313 (Dominant F313) is the latest design produced by Iran's military since it launched the Azarakhsh (Lightning), in 2007.
President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad said it had "almost all the positive features" of the world's most sophisticated jets.
He said the "development of the Iranian nation's military power is... for deterrence and defensive purposes".

What was that Peter Sellers movie from the early 60’s....the Little Kingdom or such? Where they faked everyone out.
It can SUPOSEDLY deflect radar but cna it FLY? I doubt it.
“The Mouse that Roared.”
“The Mouse that Roared”. Actually, they planned to declare war on the United States, surrender and then receive the kind of foreign aid the Japan and Germany were getting.
Unfortunately for them, one of their scientists stole some sort of secret weapon, even more fearsome than the Hydrogen bomb from the U.S. and the U.S. promptly surrendered to them.
In the 60s, while the population starved, China developed nuclear weapons. If you view a countrys expanding technology and economy as a sphere, then this jet might be a sudden spike on the surface of that sphere. Just because the rest of the country is in the 9th century does not mean they cant, through theft and espionage, build a first rate weapon. Whether they can build enough of them is another matter. Then there are the strategies and tactics that make those weapons successful. All elements of a culture must progress at approximately the same pace for the entire picture to come together and for the weapon to be successfully employed.
A nice airplane except that apparently the rubber bands keep breaking.
There are photos of the rear of this thing. It’s a boat that they put a top on.
Which means they don't know and are imply hypothesizing!
Does it even fly?
They were relatively advanced for the muslim world when the Shah was in power, IIRC.
"Footage from state TV shows the jet in flight, but not its take-off or landing"
**Iranian state television did not show the jet take off or land but did show pictures of it purportedly flying although some suspected it was just a remote-controlled aircraft depicted. The country has reportedly struggled to upgrade its fleet since the 1980s due to tight sanctions.**
Pilots must have gone to the same flight school as the 9-11 hijackers.
Not debating that at this point, but the aircraft they are claiming is their new stealth fighter looks like another case of blustering on Iran's part.

Notice pictures of the pilot down toward the middle of the article to see how small this stealth plane is.
I think it's intended to be a manned cruise missile to deliver one of their nukes once they're ready.
