i know this holds no weight here, but as a "Mexican-American" who was born and raised in the US, whose parents and grandparents and great grandparents and even further back were born and raised here, and who was taught that we are AMERICAN period, i do know what it's like to be treated differently... and i have seen some injustices simply because of ethnicity... it's an awful feeling... btw--i am not saying that's what the case is here... and i do know "white" people expeience it too...
i do realize i am "Caucasian."
I don’t know.....I think Disney offered the couple compensation for their perceived feelings, and they rejected it in lieu of legal action and a bigger possible settlement.
It is near impossible to make a judgement on the intent or feelings of the character. In the video of the boy affected, I got the impression that he’s just parroting what the parents wanted him to say, but that is just conjecture on my part. To me, it seemed rehearsed.
I agree with everything you wrote. As an Italian American I’ve had people say all kinds of stuff to me, over the years. The question is do I need or deserve state, federal and local laws to control everyone’s behavior toward me? In the end, I have to vote no.
A lawsuit over whether a rabbit touched your kid? I think not.
And btw, this is liberal Disney, of “gay days” fame.
