Meet John Brennan's kinder, gentler CIA, where foreign partners do the interrogation dirty work and Americans are "pleased" with drone discipline.
If Chuck Hagels performance in his confirmation hearing last week was comparable to a deer caught in the headlights, John Brennans artificially earnest, overly agreeable performance before the Senate Armed Services Committee today brought to mind a kid imploring his teacher to raise his B grade to an A.
If I am confirmed, a trust deficit between the committee and the CIA would be wholly unacceptable to me, and I would make it my goal on day one of my tenure and every day thereafter to strengthen the trust between us, Brennan told the Senate Intelligence Committee, which has consistently been frustrated by a lack of information-sharing and forthrightness from this White House.
I have a reputation for speaking my mind, and at times doing so in a rather direct manner, which some attribute to my New Jersey roots, he continued. I like to think that my candor and bluntness will reassure you that you will get straight answers from me, maybe not always the ones you like, but you will get answers and they will reflect my honest views. Thats the commitment I make to you.

I can’t figure out who most deserves the “Uriah Heep” award for sniveling and sucking up to this disastrous morally bereft administration... Hagel or Brennan
the cloying obsequious toad in David Copperfield
David Copperfield...the Magician?
He was for waterboarding before against waterboarding, WHO worked with him or worked under him can be sure the new CIA boss have their backs?
How about our allies?
Waterboard them, then kill the bastards.
They are ok with water boarding American citizens, specifically Tea Partiers (labeled as terrorists by big sis).
Shouldn’t all nominees for this level of position be waterboarded to get some straight answers?
If any Republican had balls, they would have asked him something about Jerusalem, to let everyone hear the Hussein Head freak call it Al Quds.
I never believe its better to kill a terrorist than to detain him. Then he should publicly stand down on this principle which obviously diverges from Barack Obama, since Obama ordered the assassination of Osama bin Laden even though he could have been captured.
It’s the terrorist’s decision. If he surrenders when U.S. forces come for him, he lives. If he stands and fight, he might take a round. His idea is not pragmatic.
Heh, he lies right to our faces, I like that.
Thanks Sir Napsalot.
