I’m expecting to be jailed soon for “assault thoughts.”

Assault magazine - it must be rolled up really tight, and swung with sufficient force.

to reduce and prevent gun violence while also protecting the rights of law-abiding individuals without a history of dangerous mental illness to own legitimate firearms for legitimate purposes.

Very carefully note what I highlighted. They've recently injected this into the discussion, and I'm very afraid of the consequences of this conditional clause.

With the Democrats in control of the newly-minted healthcare abortion in this country, you can bet your bottom dollar that they are going to redefine the mental health field in ways that will net large swaths of Americans as "mentally defective," and thus subject to denial of the right to self-defense.

I, for one, believe this will lead to the decimation of the mental health field in this nation, as people who treasure their right to armed self-defense will pass on going to see even a social worker to just talk about their day-to-day stressors.

Hug your children, embrace your parents and your elders. I believe we need to go back to an extended family, church-going, nuclear community, know-thy-neighbor way of living to combat the tyranny that's coming to our doorsteps.

I refuse to give up my FIREPOWER and PISTOLERO magazines!

I always thought that the right to own firearms also covered the items necessary to make them work, like magzines and ammo, scopes, bipods, ect.

I guess I was wrong.

...to own legitimate firearms for legitimate purposes.

I will decide what is legitimate for my purposes. I never did find the "sporting purposes" section in the Second Amendment.

I’ve heard the ridiculous term “cop-killer bullets” being resurrected again after Newtown, as well as “armor-piercing bullets”, even by Leon Panetta, to our own troops. Their definition is any bullet that can pierce a thin kevlar vest, which includes every hunting rifle round in existence.

If we can limit the number of rounds in a firearm magazine, we can limit the number of pages in a Playboy magazine. The same specious utilitarian logic that applies to the first also applies to the second.

Their mission: to 'reduce and prevent gun violence'

Ah, there's that "gun violence" phrase again. The liberals are at their semantic games again, this time ALWAYS pairing "guns" with "violence" to create a Pavlovian response to "What is the first thing you think of when "gun" is mentioned?" Try that out on a friend to see how successful that trick is. Do a search on that phrase in quotes (over 600,000 hits), then "knife violence" (600 hits).

As to "assault magazines", these idiots don't know what they are talking about. Take two of their "safe" 10-round magazines, reverse one and tape them together. Voila! You've just made a "Jungle Clip" like our infantry did in WWII and Korea to give themselves more firepower.

And, in a more gruesome scenario, do these idiots REALLY believe that people cringing under desks - or looking for a pair of defensive scissors as per the Homeland Defense video - will say say "Oh, the shooter has used up his allocated 10 rounds and is busy reloading! Let's make a run for it!" Far more likely they stay cringing, as recommended, and die under their desks.

No, on second thought, they really aren't idiots. They know these laws are just another step forward in their dream of People Control (aka Gun Control). And they'll keep using variations of the ever-effective "it's for the children!", with the required quiver in their voice, and the sheeplike public will follow them up the ramp to the abattoir.

As Barry signs various Executive Orders and ill-conceived laws that erode our liberties, we need to refer to his pen as an 'Assault Pen', and the robo-pen as an 'Automatic Assault Pen'.
