America Is Doomed Unless Women Start Having More Babies. How Convenient.
The Slate ^ | Monday, Feb. 4, 2013 | Amanda Marcotte

Posted on 02/10/2013 12:03:55 PM PST by MinorityRepublican

Ever since it became less socially acceptable to argue openly that women—at least white, middle-class women—owe it to men to curtail our professional ambitions in favor of a life as our husbands' support staff, conservatives started to panic about declining birth rates. If women don't start making more babies, they dimly warn, the country is headed for catastrophe as the workplace empties out of workers and retirees suck up all the money and people stop caring about the future. (Because we can't care about the children we do have unless we have more of them, for some reason.) To save America, women, especially those aforementioned pesky middle-class, white women, are going to have to start having more babies at a younger age, the argument goes.

How utterly racist. No black babies (oh wait, the Democrats are working with PP to forestall that), no Asian babies born of mothers from China, Korea, elsewhere here on a “birth vacation to have an American Baby”, no poor downtrodden Mexican illegal anchor babies?

How racist to expect that a country orginally comprised largely comprised of whites now expects that its white women propagate the species...... the effing nerve......what about all them little Mexican anchor babies whose mothers apparently are doing the job white women don’t want to do....

Don’t forget that the writer used to work for Silky Pony and was so vile she managed to get herself fired from there.

Ms. Marcotte has fallen victim to the same fatal flaw as the rest of our current culture: She gives NO consideration at all to the wise purposes or plan of her Creator.

The one good thing about declining birth rates is that it will eventually destroy the welfare state. This Ponzi scheme collapses pretty quickly if you don’t have more people paying into the system than taking out of it. If feminists were truly concerned about maintaining the welfare state, they would encourage woman to have more children, but this conflicts with their fantasy about being able to have it all without any consequences.

A great disaster had befallen Russia

It took 20 years. But the Bear is back.

Indeed. Exactly how do Miss Marcotte and others who share her worldview think older people will be taken care of when they do not reproduce enough folks to take over their responsibilities as they retire?

The Gods of the Copybook Headings

Kipling

.../snip
When the Cambrian measures were forming, They promised perpetual peace.
They swore, if we gave them our weapons, that the wars of the tribes would cease.
But when we disarmed They sold us and delivered us bound to our foe,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: “Stick to the Devil you know.”

.../snip
On the first Feminian Sandstones we were promised the Fuller Life
(Which started by loving our neighbour and ended by loving his wife)
Till our women had no more children and the men lost reason and faith,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: “The Wages of Sin is Death.”

.../snip
In the Carboniferous Epoch we were promised abundance for all,
By robbing selected Peter to pay for collective Paul;
But, though we had plenty of money, there was nothing our money could buy,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: “If you don't work you die.”

The U.S. adds one international migrant (net) every 36 seconds. Immigrants account for one in 8 U.S. residents, the highest level in more than 90 years. In 1970 it was one in 21; in 1980 it was one in 16; and in 1990 it was one in 13. In a decade, it will be one in 7, the highest it has been in our history. And by 2050, one in 5 residents of the U.S. will be foreign-born.

Currently, 1.6 million legal and illegal immigrants settle in the country each year; 350,000 immigrants leave each year, resulting in a net immigration of 1.25 million. Since 1970, the U.S. population has increased from 203 million to 315 million, i.e., over 100 million. In the next 40 years, the population will increase by an additional 125 million to 440 million. Three-quarters of the increase in our population since 1970 and the projected increase will be the result of immigration. The U.S., the world’s third most populous nation, has the highest annual rate of population growth of any developed country (except for Ireland and Australia, which have lower fertility rates) in the world, i.e., 0.9% (2012 estimate,) principally due to immigration.

The US will not be declining in population anytime soon.

Exactly.

History shows us this as well. It was after the Black Death in the 14th century that wiped out approximately 30% of the population of Europe at that time. (Historians please correct me if this percentage is incorrect!)

It was in the aftermath of the plague that the system in force at that time of serfdom was broken because there simply was not the abundance of labor anymore. This marked the rise of the middle class and the ability of free men to accumulate wealth.

Just from what you describe, the America is sinking in population of Americans. People who grew up with adoring the values of our Founding Fathers.

As someone who's lived in CA for the last 20 years, I can see how immigration to this degree has fundamentally altered our culture, and not for the better.

(As a son of an immigrant, I am not anti-immigrant. But they have to immerse themselves in our language and culture, not the other way around.)
