Barack Obama speaks at 9 p.m. EST. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) gives the GOP response after Obama speaks. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) gives the Tea Party Express response around 10 p.m.

Missed KTW but it sounds a lot like what McDonnell did in 2010.
Rand Paul reminds me of Newt in terms of providing hard details.
To be honest, I had the speech & commentary on in the other room, so I only heard snippets as I went to the kitchen for refills.
Unless there’s real legislative action to stop Obama’s team and their leftist dreams, it’s all just talk.
He sounds like his Pappy to me, just not as manic.

Rand Paul is big libertarian by osmosis. He just keeps it well hid, compared to his father. But so far he seems to be a decent presidential candidate for 2016. Better than Rubio
That’s a pretty good comparison. It might be a good thing in these times. The public is too stupid/inattentive to handle details.

He was evidently very nervous. You could hear him suffering from dry mouth for a minute or two before he went for the water bottle.

Rubio had a great message but he needs to polish his image. Why deliver the message in Spanish trying to reach a minority yet turn off millions of low information voters with a sub-par delivery?
Of course the panel on Fox cable news is praising the Prez’s speech and poo pooing Rubio’s. Makes me sick.

I think Rand Paul is sincere in his statements. I’ve heard his opposition to father’s political views on more than one occasion.
Conservatives are shaded by either statism or libertarianism. A few are dead center. Rand Paul is obviously on the liberty side of the spectrum.
Best potential candidate for 2016.
I wonder if tonight was an audition of sorts for the establishment folks to decide whether to go all in with him or to get Jeb Bush on the phone.
I’d bet dollars to donuts either Bush, Rubio, or Christie is the guy in 2016
There will be lot’s of fact checking over the course of the next two weeks leading to sequestration.
