Police in Christopher Dorner standoff launched incendiary tear gas into cabin

By CHUCK BENNETT and DAVID K. LI From Post Wires Last Updated: 6:14 AM, February 14, 2013

Murderous ex-cop Christopher Jordan Dorner wanted to go out in a blaze of glory — and the sheriff’s deputies who surrounded his California mountain hideout provided the flames.

The San Bernardino County cops torched the wooden cabin with highly flammable “incendiary tear gas” as Dorner took refuge Tuesday, apparently burning him to a crisp.

“Burn this mf--er!” one officer shouted as they had Dorner — who had earlier killed a deputy and seriously wounded another — pinned down in the cabin, according to police radio transmissions.

Amid sounds of gunfire, voices can be head shouting, “Burn it down!” and “Shoot the gas!”

About 20 minutes later, Dorner is believed to have ambushed two Riverside officers while they were stopped at a red light at Magnolia and Arlington avenues

Lived right near there....in the 90's.

Let’s put it this way. You are in a store carrying your Concealed weapon. A guy comes in and shoots a clerk and a customer. Are you going to play judge and jury and execute him or obey the rule of law and presume he is innocent?

I would pull back so he would stop firing to conserve ammo. Or maybe wing him and wait for him to bleed out. Oh, and look for a bullhorn. ;)

Disagree.

You can't dispute the facts.

Cordoning off the area, scanning the area with aircraft and waiting him out would have been the professional thing to do

That was done. How long should LE be required to wait for the killer/fugitive to decide if he's surrendering peacefully, committing suicide or dieing in a hail of bullets? How many man hours have to be wasted on a single turd?

The police acknowledged via radio conversation that they were going to "burn the mother******."

Yes, CS gas him. It's done in many cases where fugitives barricade themselves. Get educated.

It didn't have to end this way,

Dorner made the decision about how it ended. Lay the blame where it belongs. Are you related to the turd?

Rephrased to more accurately fit what happened:

“Let’s put it this way. You are in a store carrying your Concealed weapon. A guy comes in and shoots a clerk and a customer. He retreats and barricades himself in the walk in beer cooler. Are you going to play cop, prosecutor, judge, jury and executioner by firing every round you have into the cooler, or move out and stand off a distance so that less lethal force can potentially dislodge him?”

There. That approximates what happened.

Well, what would everyone here do? Fire every round randomly through the beers, knowing some would hit and kill him? Or retreat and try other tactics?

So now you are offended by a BS hypothetical. On a thread with BS hypotheticals. And bullhorns.

Extra-judicial murder is what they did

Defense and Crime: 100% Conservative,

You're more than a little reckless with the truth.

Well DUH!!! I’d use the store’s supply of charcoal lighter fluid and matches to burn the mother out!

It’s the only calm, considered and rational thing to do!

Now now, don’t start with another BS hypothetical. Remember, delicate FReeper sensibilities.

By the way, you should probably change your tagline to: “I don’t know jack about what due process actually means.”

>> At the cabin, the only rule of law that was violated was the Law of Delicate FReeper sensibilities.<<

OH really! So the guy is surrounded with absolutely no way out. The LEOs only have to wait him out but choose to incinerate him but no law was broken. Gotcha.

>> was Dorner firing from the cabin and is that a subject of dispute<<

NO, the dispute is whether or not the LEO can execute without due process.

Please, tell me, was tear gas discovered yesterday? Has it ever been used to flush out a barricaded suspect?

CS burners aren’t supposed to be used in wooden dwelling specifically because they will set things on fire. It even says so right on the side of the can....

Here’s a hypothetical for you [snort]: let’s say you are holed-up in a remote cabin, shooting at police officers. Are you more concerned about your Fifth, or Fourteenth Amendment rights?

Good people die because of bad cops every week. Where are your tears and concerns for them?

Lots of bad folks die too... I guess it all comes down to you being a lot more willing to crack a few eggs as long as you approve of the omelette.

So your criteria would be “if they’ve done it in the past why not continue?” Seriously? How about property confiscation for purposes of putting in a mall? How about gun regulations or confiscation of certain types of weapons? Hmmmm?

The LEOs only have to wait him out

How long are they required to wait? How many man hours do you require to be wasted? How many hours of helicopter and pilot time? First responder standby time? Can you provide a breakdown for us?

Vb started in with the wishful thinking crap.

May as well do away with bread. Every madman murder and tyrannical despot in the last two thousand years has consumed some sort of bread product.

Down with yeast.
