If the leader of the free world can lie with such impunity we are doomed
Telegraph UK ^ | February 17, 2013 | James Delingpole

Earlier this week in his State of the Union address President Obama made some observations on climate change so brimming with falsehoods I'm surprised his nose didn't fall off.

It really doesn't matter where he himself was deliberately lying or whether he was merely lending the gravitas of his office to the deliberate lies of others. The point is that the President of the USA has access to any number of fact checkers and advisers and if he stands up and addresses the nation with a farrago of complete untruths then the buck stops with him.

This dissembling and mendacity becomes all the more culpable when it forms the basis of major public policy decisions which will have a serious impact on people's lives in the US and beyond.

A problem for the USA is that 50% + or - of the population have the independence to be societal sheep but not the smarts to see the wolves among them.

Degingpole also goes after corrupt media, From the article:

… So why this snake-oil salesman being allowed to get away with it? ... So why, outside the internet, has no one called him on it?

The answer, I think, lies partly within the question. The internet, it seems to me, is the last bastion of truth in a world corrupted beyond measure.

Some words of advice are so apt that they may be applied to all situations, in all places, and in any Century. Note the following excerpt from Thomas Jefferson's letter to young Peter Carr. Sadly, it seems, the advice has not been passed on and/or accepted by some prominent recent and current political leaders in America.

"Nothing is so mistaken as the supposition, that a person is to extricate himself from a difficulty, by intrigue, by chicanery, by dissimulation, by trimming, by an untruth, by an injustice. This increases the difficulties ten fold; and those who pursue these methods, get themselves so involved at length, that they can turn no way but their infamy becomes more exposed. It is of great importance to set a resolution, not to be shaken, never to tell an untruth. There is no vice so mean, so pitiful, so contemptible; and he who permits himself to tell a lie once, finds it much easier to do it a second and third time, till at length it becomes habitual; he tells lies without attending to it, and truths without the world’s believing him. This falsehood of the tongue leads to that of the heart, and in time depraves all its good dispositions." - See "Letter to Peter Carr, August 19, 1785," in Thomas Jefferson: Writings (New York: The Library of America, 1984), pp. 814-815.

Oh, please!! Anyone who thinks politicians don't lie is either an idiot or a leftist.

You are correct. It has nothing to do with climate. It is just another way to chip away at the structure of the United States. That’s all it is and nothing more.

There is no "leader of the free world." There is lots of free world (admittedly shrinking each day) but there is not a single leader. Hasn't been for some time.

If anyone thinks more than 3-5% will change their vote, they’re dreaming.

Why does 96% of our best news and opinion come from a country that hates us and is quickly becoming a Caliphate mixed with a 1984 scenario? What then?

Perhaps some of them understand where they are headed, long for the days when they had an opportunity to do better, and have hopes of waking us up in time for America to regroup and be the bastion of Freedom that serves as an anchor for the world. If we fall, the world falls.

“False premise that O is the leader of the free world.”
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

False in all ways, first, if a free world exists somewhere, it is certainly not on this planet. Secondly, “O” would never be interested in leading a free world, he is only interested in pretending to lead while dangling on the puppet strings of people like Bill Ayers, Soros and others who are dedicated to the destruction of anything remotely resembling a free world.
People should stop referring to things that do not actually exist, how can we castigate those who refer to fantasies like man made global warming as real while we refer to things like the free world which do not in fact exist.
