The Push to Normalize Polyamory Begins
national review ^ | 2/17/13 | Wesley J. Smith

You knew it was coming. Scientific American — which often pushes cultural agendas as much as scientific ideas — has an article informing us that polyamorous people have so much to teach the rest of us about life. From “The New Sexual Revolution: Polyamory May Be Good For You“ One thing that seems to unite the polyamorous community is a real enthusiasm for digging into emotions. Honesty, openness and communication are cornerstones for polyamorous relationships, Holmes has found. “They’re talking a lot, they’re negotiating a lot, they’re bringing their feelings to the table a lot,” he said.

“The New Sexual Revolution: Polyamory May Be Good For You“

Monogamous relationships provide an environment within which the very slow developing human child can survive to adulthood. Look to the hip hop culture to validate this by showing the necessary outcome a culture that abandons heterosexual monogamy. Polyamory appears from time to time in history only to be abandoned. You might recall that Margaret Mead described what she wanted to find and not what she actually saw.

As my good friends Mom told him when he was becoming a young man, “Darling, there’s nothing so overrated as sex, and nothing so underrated as taking a good sh*t.”
Old Irish wisdom.

Yes it was normal in probably all cultures and societies and still is, officially, in a few, and unofficially in many.

“Marriage defined as one man and one woman is an artifact of Catholicism”

Al the people before Christ’s time would be surprised to hear that Catholics invented marriage!!

I’m fairly certain that concept predates Catholicism.

While I probably can't find the reference, I have read that it is the only religion that has been monogamous for its whole history.

Yes, do it for the litters of children.

Legalizing polyamory would make it state-sanctioned adultery.

The Duggars didn’t need more than one wife to have 20 kids.

“The human condition affords so few pleasures however I can live without sex, but why if you are healthy and capable? “

Sex is wonderful, but it is much better when you actually are in love with someone. Honestly, everything is pretty empty if there isn’t something more than personal ‘pleasure’ involved. Hedonism is a pretty empty pursuit, ultimately. I think this is just a variation of ‘Man does not live by bread alone’.

It may be the only way the ugly libtard women can be included in the cycle of life.

Either that, or they could put on some makeup, drop the weight and see what happens.

You're mostly right, Duncan, since monogamy seems to have begun its rise to cultural predominance much earlier. The Jewish Enyclopedia (Link) explains that monogamy became de-facto social norm in the period after the Babylonian exile (that would be the 6th-5th century BC).

The Roman Law (meaning the secular law of the Roman Empire) allowed only one legal wife per husband, although secondary liaisons with concubines, slaves, paramours, and prostitutes were common amongst the pagan Romans.

What clinched the deal for monogamy was that the Catholic Church accepted the Roman (secular) law of only one legal wife, and additionally insisted on fidelity of both the husband and the wife (no fornication, no adultery), as taught by Jesus and quite explicitly by Paul. Thus you had a "cementing" of monogamy in both secular and religious practice, set up by Roman Catholic law.

Rabbi Gershom (11th century AD) legislated mandatory monogamy for Western Jews, but this was only the formalization of what had been the actual practice amongst Western Jews for many centuries. I believe polygamy persisted longer amongst Eastern Jews, but it was not common, and was permitted only if the first wife was infertile, since the Jews strongly understood the purpose of marriage as procreative.

After all, it’s “unfair” to limit marriage to only 2 people!/sarc

Just wait until they allow it for your cat, a zinnia, your iguana, a safey pin, a pair of dirty diapers or your gun. No, wait, guns will be banned.

This argues my point exactly, although not completely. What your reference shows is that Jewish opinion has "evolved" (in left speak) to become less tolerant and less enlightened, and needs to be more inclusive.(again, in left speak) How would Jews argue against polygamy today? Obviously it isn't mandatory for Jewish person to be monogamous. Or for that matter, how will Protestants argue against this when Martin Luther endorsed bigamy?

Polygyny should be legalized.

Contrary to popular notion, polygyny is detrimental to the average or below average man, but beneficial to all women.

This is because more women can have children fathered by the highest quality men, while the left-over, more homely women women can more easily find husbands from the over supply of average or below average men. Thus resulting in fewer old maids.

Polygyny is in accord with the workings of evolution and of evolved human nature.

Actually, it is the Jewish invention——the elevation of marriage was their gift to the world which was the first elevation of woman in cultures. Of course, the decalogue was essential to Christians also.

Destruction of traditional marriage is to destroy the emotional health of boys and girls—blur right and wrong—destroy Christian Ethics-—to destroy the idea of Natural Laws (Truth)-—that which created the Constitution and USA.

Why? It is “Reason” that has to be ejected from society-—so that any type of artificial, atheist, Marxist society can be possible and believed. Marxism is irrational-—it erases differences of men and women and destroys family so that all children become the slaves of the state with no one devoted to them. The dehumanization is consistent with destruction of biological parents. That genetic interest in the past and future is destroyed with all traditions. That way-—the Ministry of Truth-—can create their “own” Truth.

All Tradition has to be destroyed so that children will never realize what “freedom” and Independence really means. The ideas of Locke/Adam Smith, etc., can be erased. They will be happy in their feudal (slave) state just like in The Brave New World.
