WESTLAND, Mich., Feb. 21 (UPI) -- The owners of a Michigan buffet restaurant are being sued in federal court for allegedly kicking out a family whose children suffer from a rare skin disorder.
A lawsuit filed Wednesday against a Westland Golden Corral alleges the restaurant's owners, Kirit and Shakuntla Patel, violated the Americans with Disabilities Act by refusing to serve the family, The Detroit News reported.
The lawsuit alleges that restaurant manager David Robinson approached the family and asked Duford "What is wrong with your baby?" Duford said nothing was wrong and informed the manager about the skin disease.
"She has scabs all over, so obviously there is something wrong with her," Robinson allegedly said, adding that the restaurant had "a right to ask what's wrong if it concerns our customers and is contagious."

Speaking of buffets, I have another story.
I have two buddies that are big ol corn fed boys.
They aren’t fat, just BIG.
Well we used to go to this Chinese buffet, and they could put down 5 plates each easily.
One day after having frequented the establishment several times, we walked in and the proprietor comes rushing up waving his finger at them and urgently saying “3 plate only! 3 plate only!” LOL!!!!
My husband and I call them troughs like they use for pigs. Last time we went to a buffet was Ryans about 20 years ago. We were so disgusted we could hardly wait to leave. (we were there with my parents who loved buffets.) Haven’t been to one since. If those kids can get those blisters from the slightest touch, why in the world would you take them out of the house let alone a restaurant? They people are either out to sue somebody or just plain ignorant.
Yes, the food is pretty good.
The clientele the attract in many areas, gluttony on parade. A sweaty, jiggly, purple-footed parade...
And continues to cost.
Wheelchair ramps by the thousands that are never used. Many can't be used because they go from the street to nowhere a wheelchair can negoriate.
LOL! I remember one indoor skateboard facility that was aborted because the mentally handicapped insisted on having a "handicapped" parking space.
i feel bad for the manager, and really bad for the kid.
All the posters who object to buffets frequented by obese and probably lower income folks need to remember that the “elite” restaurants with the fashionable, sophisticated patrons are probably full of Obama fans.
The kitchen and wait staff may just have more than its fair share of potential or actual HIV patients.
And yes, Golden Corral is a GREAT place to get “a good home cooked southern meal”. Any time we have vegetarians in the group, I suggest Golden Corral. At other restaurants they are usually limited to variants on the potato, steamed broccoli or the blooomin’ onion.
Was any person ahead of you the kind that doesn’t thoroughly wash hands after leaving the restroom? Anyone with cold or flu contamination left on the utensils? No thanks. It’s no bargain.
