Israel Grants First Golan Heights Oil Drilling License To Powerful US Company
Business Insider ^ | Feb. 22, 2013, 2:45 PM | Michael Kelley

Israel has granted a U.S. company the first license to explore for oil and gas in the occupied Golan Heights, John Reed of the Financial Times reports.

A local subsidiary of the New York-listed company Genie Energy — which is advised by former vice president Dick Cheney and whose shareholders include Jacob Rothschild and Rupert Murdoch — will now have exclusive rights to a 153-square mile radius in the southern part of the Golan Heights.

That geographic location will likely prove controversial. Israel seized the Golan Heights in the Six-Day War in 1967 and annexed the territory in 1981. Its administration of the area — which is not recognized by international law — has been mostly peaceful until the Syrian civil war broke out 23 months ago.

"This action is mostly political – it’s an attempt to deepen Israeli commitment to the occupied Golan Heights," Israeli political analyst Yaron Ezrahi told FT. "The timing is directly related to the fact that the Syrian government is dealing with violence and chaos and is not free to deal with this problem.”

They should make it less "controversial" by seizing several other large tracts of land with rich petroleum deposits.

"Reed notes that recent natural gas finds off Israel’s coast in the Mediterranean have made Israel’s offshore gas reserve is one of the largest of its kind in the world and will make the Jewish state a significant energy exporter in its region."

That's one big heck of a start!

What struck me the most was that Jacob Rothschild was involved. To see that Cheney and Murdock, two bedrocks of conservative USA are involved with one(probably all) of the Rothschilds is intriguing when one looks at/investigates the history of the Rothschild family from the 1700s. This is a family of bankers shunned by Presidents Jackson, Lincoln and Kennedy. To know the family’s involvement in wars and nation building including the so called USA federal reserve bank is an enlightenment as to where we are and how we as a Nation got to where we are.

What struck me the most was that Jacob Rothschild was involved.

I caught that too and wondered how the dollar may be calling a new(?) tune:

Did my ear detect Netanyahu's bluster softening a bit amid pressure from inside and without:

PM: Unarmed Palestinian state critical to peace
By TOVAH LAZAROFF - 02/19/2013 01:14

“I’m not placing these conditions before the entrance gate,” he said. “I have a clear idea of what has to be done to achieve a workable peace. I’m prepared to do it, but I don’t place any conditions on entering negotiations.

“I don’t think we should spend or waste another four years negotiating about the negotiations. I think we should just get on with it,” Netanyahu said.

But once those talks begin, it’s not “only Israel that has to make concessions... The Palestinians will have to make concessions too,” he said. “That’s part of the world, and that’s part of a genuine, workable and durable peace.”

But, should both sides sign a final status agree, Netanyahu was clear that a piece of paper did not guarantee peace.

“We need a peace process and a peace result that gives us peace and gives us security; and that is not achieved by merely signing a piece of paper,” Netanyahu said.

"Israel has granted a U.S. company the first license to explore for oil and gas in the occupied Golan Heights, John Reed of the Financial Times reports."

"Occupied?" Dishonest and anti-Israel choice of word. The Financial Times is a Brit publication. Business Insider is based in New York. But by some of its content in many articles, it appears to be related in some ways.

I just love horizontal drilling. 2 things: 1) There is plenty of oil in the middle east. 2) Israel is in the middle east. Shouldn’t Israel enjoy the wealth too? They can tell us to eliminate our foreign aid. I luv it!.
