Limbaugh ‘Ashamed’ Comment Puts Sequestration in Right Perspective, Author Says
Official Wire ^ | February 23, 2013 | The Right Frequency

After more than two decades of espousing patriotism, Rush Limbaugh reached a breaking point this week declaring, “for the first time in my life, I am ashamed of my country.”

“I’m into my 25th year,” Limbaugh said on his program Thursday addressing the sequestration debate. “I can’t tell you the number of times this has happened. This hit me yesterday. I’ve said the same things over and over for 25 years. Whether the Clinton presidency or the Obama presidency, whether it’s a Pelosi speakership or Tom Foley, it’s the same stuff. It’s the same threats. It’s the same arguments over and over. Nothing ever changes! We just keep spending more money.”

Though Limbaugh has a history of saying audacious things on his program, the comment went viral, crashed his website and elicited outrage from his critics. It’s the kind of thing Limbaugh is known for, as explained in Fred Lucas’s The Right Frequency: The Story of the Talk Radio Giants Who Shook Up the Political and Media Establishment.

“Limbaugh does what he’s always done, which is put things in real perspective even if it seems over the top,” Lucas said. “In this case, he was fed up and sought to put the relatively small spending adjustments in the sequestration in the context of a $16 trillion national debt”

Limbaugh went on to explain, “We’re just not going to spend as much as was projected. It’s all baseline budgeting. There is no real cut below a baseline of zero.”

The Right Frequency tells the story of how Limbaugh’s career spawned an alternative media universe of other personalities also profiled in the book. The book explains how Limbaugh was an issue in the last presidential election and why Democrats once anointed him the “leader of the Republican Party.”

Never ceases to amaze me how the Limbaugh bashers strain at a gnat and swallow a camel.
The current debate only served as a background for Rush to put in relief Michelle Obama's infamous remark "...for the first time in my life I'm proud of my country."

Someone should start a pool to see when the critics will draw the parallel and contrast the two expressions. When they start that pool, please put me down for "never".

I am ashamed of the Congress of the United States, the Supreme Court and the President of the United States, I will never be ashamed of my country.

Right now it’s leadership sucks, but the country is still the greatest in the world. If only we can wake up those who are sleeping us into oblivion and fight to save it.

To heck with multi-Millionaire Limbaugh.

I am ASHAMED of him.

After Sequestration, A Shocking Proportion Of Government Spending Will Be On Entitlements

He is spouting untruths about how Sequestration will not decimate our military. He is a selfish jerk who has no idea regarding what he is talking about.

If more than half the voters are sub-human filth who vote for Carter, Clinton I, Clinton II, the kenyan piece of filth, and a dem congress for something like 55 of the last 70 years, is it possible to be proud of the country?

He loves himself more than words can describe. He’s worn his little giggle pin to a stub, looking at himself in the mirror and engaging in self-abuse. His “knowledge” of econ is astoundingly shallow —
“WWII ended the Great Depression,”
“Defense spending is a boon to the economy,”
“Gov spending cannot be a stimulus,” which IS TRUE,
“unless you borrow it, but that just adds to the deficit,” which is incomprehensible and utterly mindless.”

What is the matter? The moochers don't like hearing the truth out there?

Wake up you idiot! 44 billion for the fiscal year 2013 out of a debt of more than 16 trillion adds up to a nothing cut and you are crying!

Obama must be YOUR mama!

Just take it out of the EPA's budget and be done with it.
If they were serious about cutting anything, they would eliminate non-essential programs, duplicate programs and inefficient programs.
Instead they are fear-mongering by threatening to cut highly visible programs.
And 0bama is taking it a step further by threatening programs that are not even under federal control.
Pure politics at its worst.

No, I have not been.

You know I did some checking in the Bible a few nights back. From the time of King Josiah's death to the time the nation of Judah was destroyed and carried away into exile was 25 years (give or take a few years).

Do you know how many years it's been since Ronald Reagan led this once great nation? 1988, correct?

That was exactly 25 years ago...............

I am not ashamed of my Country, the United States of America. I am ashamed that the bastards that inflicted obama on me are allowed to not onlylive here and prosper. They are allowed to figuratively piss on the graves of those who gave their lives to build and preserve this Country. I am ashamed that we turned a great Nation over to queers, parastes, degenerates and others of their ilk that whose only goal is to destroy the United States under the guise of political correctness.

no, I am not ashamed of my Country, I am ashamed of the sons of bitches who voted for the american hater obama that call themselves Americans.

“He is spouting untruths about how Sequestration will not decimate our military . . ..”

Would you like to suggest how a national debt in excess of $16 trillion can do other than decimate America’s military establishment, and thereby render the U. S. incapable of influencing global geo-political trends such as Chinese political hegemony west of the longitude of Wake Island?

First of all bonehead, the budget deal is to cut 1.2 trillion over a ten (10) year period! 44 billion for the year 2013, only half of that 22 billion from the military, the other 22 billion from discretionary spending. In fact, the government will spend 15 billion MORE this year with the segrestration that without it!!!!

Like I said before, WAKE UP!

do you really think this country is somehow stronger with an out of control government and a 16 trillion dollar deficit, much of that owed to the communist Chinese?

Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh

I’ve never necessarily framed things in terms of “being ashamed,” but looking at the whole prism of cultural rot that America has sunk to, the country is a pale, pathetic shadow of what it used to be. An abject embarrassment to its historic greatness and exceptionalism. Morally, culturally, and economically bankrupt. Between a suckling populace of dependency happily ushering in a marxist cretin like Obama, and the sheer cultural degeneracy of things like homo marriage, I would no longer be one to place a bet on America’s future. The decay is indeed accelerating.
