Limbaugh ‘Ashamed’ Comment Puts Sequestration in Right Perspective, Author Says
Official Wire ^ | February 23, 2013 | The Right Frequency

Posted on 02/23/2013 6:40:05 PM PST by TeaPartyJakes

After more than two decades of espousing patriotism, Rush Limbaugh reached a breaking point this week declaring, “for the first time in my life, I am ashamed of my country.”

“I’m into my 25th year,” Limbaugh said on his program Thursday addressing the sequestration debate. “I can’t tell you the number of times this has happened. This hit me yesterday. I’ve said the same things over and over for 25 years. Whether the Clinton presidency or the Obama presidency, whether it’s a Pelosi speakership or Tom Foley, it’s the same stuff. It’s the same threats. It’s the same arguments over and over. Nothing ever changes! We just keep spending more money.”

Though Limbaugh has a history of saying audacious things on his program, the comment went viral, crashed his website and elicited outrage from his critics. It’s the kind of thing Limbaugh is known for, as explained in Fred Lucas’s The Right Frequency: The Story of the Talk Radio Giants Who Shook Up the Political and Media Establishment.

“Limbaugh does what he’s always done, which is put things in real perspective even if it seems over the top,” Lucas said. “In this case, he was fed up and sought to put the relatively small spending adjustments in the sequestration in the context of a $16 trillion national debt”

Limbaugh went on to explain, “We’re just not going to spend as much as was projected. It’s all baseline budgeting. There is no real cut below a baseline of zero.”

The Right Frequency tells the story of how Limbaugh’s career spawned an alternative media universe of other personalities also profiled in the book. The book explains how Limbaugh was an issue in the last presidential election and why Democrats once anointed him the “leader of the Republican Party.”

Re: King Josiah (Easton's Dictionay)

I've often remarked that Ronald Reagan seemed to be the American equivalent of King Josiah. Remember the funeral procession and national mouring and grief? Thousands upon thousands of regular Americans lined the streets to pay their respects. The lines and wait times at the Capitol Rotunda were so long that the viewing time had to be extended to accomodate the crowds.

There were also the thousands of people along the streets in California as RR made his way through. Even the press couldn't ignore all of this and begrudgingly held back their usual sneers and contempt.

Zechariah 12:9-11

9 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.
10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.
11 In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon (reference to Josiah's funeral).

What is written in the Bible about Jerusalem is often a metaphor for America. A good deal of them are warnings.

Since you have those fancy graphs maybe you can explain to me how is it that even with sequestration we will be spending more than we did last year when all these same programs were doing just fine. Now, we spend MORE and they are being decimated? Must be new math.

Yes, and they just love to hate Rush.
I was a rush 24/7 member because of the time difference, but then came www.dar.fm.
It is a great service that lets me record various programs
while I am asleep, or away, and I can play them back whenever I like.
You can do one program per day for free, but as a subscriber I now do three programs per day.
On playback, I can fast forward through commercials or segments that I am not interested in.
I record Rush, Savage, and Kook to Kook AM.

Very interesting posts by both you dearest Ezekiel and ducttape45. I hadn't ever before thought of President Reagan in Biblical terms, but King Josiah seems most fitting. His date of death is forever sealed in my memory - 6-5-04. Shortly afterward, several of us FReepers, including Jim Robinson, traveled to meet at his Library to see his burial site, and tour his wonderful Library as well.

You must consider that the citzenry is what makes this country what it is. We have crossed the Rubicon. A now believes that the Constitution (the tie that binds) is no longer relevant. We are now ruled by man’s law or whims because the Republic has become a mobocracy or mob rule. The center will not hold because the middle has moved too far left. Like my 92yo German mother says, you can never go back.

Funny how that work’s Auntie! Take away 2 percent of an annual built in 6 percent increase and they call it a cut.

I suspect the bashers don’t play for our team. The eat your own mentality is a guarantee to keep conservatives out of office.

It’s unbelievable the hate that’s being piled on to Rush here. I listen everyday and he’s a breath of fresh air and common sense. I completely understand being embarrassed at what my beloved America has become.

Rush and Michelle Obama both slandered the country. I wish Rush would have said something different. To have Rush in the same category as Michelle Obama is sad. But Rush said those words himself.

He is spouting untruths about how Sequestration will not decimate our military. He is a selfish jerk who has no idea regarding what he is talking about.

Neither do you .

Interesting graphic. Notice they don’t show welfare, Section 8 housing, food stamps, etc. They bury it in categories such as Health, Community Development and Education and Income Security.

BTW I’ve had this tag line ever since Obama got re-elected. It was okay for Michelle to say she never was proud of this country until her husband was elected.

This nation ceased being great when the Constitution was ammended several times in the 20th century to enfranchise women children and parasites, taking power away from the states to decide who can vote
We are now a democracy and will inevitably collapse and die a violent and bloody death, as all democracies in recorded history have done.

Yet the man has a fervent following.

From time to time I have criticized him on FR—as I am doing now—and got nothing but denunciations from his worshipers. I considered the source.

IMHO, the man is basically an obnoxious, self-promoting, conceited egotist.

Morally, culturally, and economically bankrupt. .....

The nation's children have been compelled to attend government owned and run socialist-entitlement K-12 that were ( at their best) lukewarm and generic in their Protestant worldview since the the mid-1800 to early 1900s. What happened? The nation elected Franklin D. Roosevelt. ,

The decay is indeed accelerating.

No one should be surprised. Since the 1960s the government schools have been utterly godless. The children who attend **must** think and reason godlessly just to cooperate in the classroom. How could it be otherwise?
