( http://wakeup2thelies.com ) On Tuesday the 1st of November in the Senate debate on the 'Clean Energy Bills', Senator Cory Bernardi gave a speech opposing the bills.

This speech is a fantastic exposé on who 'The Greens' are what they stand for. In his speech he says 'The Greens' are a Marxist, extremist, Anti-Israel, alarmist, group of hypocrites who want a one-world government.

I like the cut of this guy’s jib. I wonder how many Australians share his sentiments?

I think all these claims that liberals, greenies, feminists, etc. are “really” Marxists completely miss the point.

Marxism is the claim that Marx had unique insight into the historical process and that industrialization would inevitably lead to the collapse of the capitalist system of private property.

Nobody really believes that anymore. So Marxism has been defined down to mean any attempt to share the wealth. Economic equality in addition to political/legal equality, if you will.

The truth, IMO, is that Marxism, and environmentalism, and feminism, and multi-culturalism, and all the other isms, aren’t motivated at base by a positive belief in anything.

They are instead motivated by a visceral rejection of our present, though deteriorating, system. IOW, they are all just variants of “anti,” they’re not really “pro” anything.

That is why if one demonstrates that communism does not and cannot work, a proponent just switches without missing a beat to being feminist, or green, etc. The core of his being is that he hates Western Civ, and which rationale he puts up to justify that hatred doesn’t really matter to him.

That’s why attempts to mollify these guys by improving the environment, or making the economy more “fair” to the poor, or making discrimination against women or minorities illegal, doesn’t change their hatred in the least. The hate is pre-existing and free-standing. The various causes they claim are merely props to justify that hatred to themselves and others.

I should have pointed out that enforcing economic equality in addition to legal equality is the basic tenet of socialism, of which Marxism is a sub-set. There are a great many varieties of socialism, Marxism was just (for a while) the most successful of them.

I get your point but disagree.

There is no group in the world that has a higher opinion of itself than American liberals.

They justify that self-regard by the contempt and hatred they turn on their fellow Americans who don't get with the liberal program.

I have heard it referred to as ethnomasochism, but I think that is itself off-base. They exclude themselves and those who agree with them from their hatred and contempt because doing so is justified by that very hatred and contempt.

It's like an indulgence from the Renaissance. You earn exemption from the penalties justly owed by Americans, straight white males and other Designated Oppressor Groups by expressing your hatred of others in those groups.
